Dont drink fizzy pop before you dive, . Fatty foods also build up the stomach acids and can be very uncomfortable and impair your bottom time. Trust me I speak from experiance :( :)

use johnson's&johnson's baby shampoo after a dive or beach trip to get your hair soft again.

Porridge is the way forwards.
Porridge sounds interesting. I used to eat Weetabix but cannot recommend it as I would often get sea sick in a swell. I think milk might be a problem. Recently I've been making a small cooked breakfast before diving, bacon & egg - although often I don't feel like it, it seems to help & I don't get hungry in the water. I did get suddenly sea sick once recently when I had to swim hard against the current, in a swell coming in; somebody had stuck a large Jordon's granola bag in my hand shortly before diving, which probably did more harm than good.

Also, suggest going to the bathroom before you dive - to avoid having to finish the swim early & in a hurry:D. (Used to know a student/climber in Sheffield that wouldn't go climbing until he'd been at least twice...to keep his weight down:D).

Doing 3 or 4 statics while your there helps things along. An unsavoury subject perhaps, but like James, I eat porridge in the morning before diving. It's high in fibre so this is important. Without the statics I find that after the first half hour I need to climb out on rocks and remove the wetsuit.....

To stave off hunger/toilet needs etc I go down the fry up route, small though. Its the protein thats fends off the hunger.

My 2p worth.

Breakfast tacos! Bacon, egg, & potatoes on flour tortilla (of course with hot sauce--picante). I also take out carrot & celery sticks to much on whilst resting--moisture & fiber/filling.

i keep a bottle of gatorade on my float. fits really nicelly inside. tastes like crap when it gets warm but its better than nothing on some of the longer shore dives that ive done

Breakfast at your place then?:p Celery trivia:Somebody told me that it takes more calories to digest celery than you actually get out of it. Also I read somewhere that celery (& possibly lettuce) contain a small amount of a carcinogen (I continue to eat both though).

Mr.X yes it is true that it takes more calories to break down celery than you recieve from it. plus, its mostly water and fiber. lettuce isnt digested by the body and we dont have the proper enzymes to do so. as with regard to them containing carcinogens, well anything is possible nowdays.
bon appetit

Oh so thats what all that warm liquid is that gets trapped above the knife strap , i surpose its best to drain off away from my catch in the future then. :(

No, No, No! Works great as sharks repellant! :martialroflroflThat's why the taxmen sneak up on ya--so's you don't soil ones self prior to the feast.

Senior X, should you, or any other DB friends be in the area of San Antonio I'd love to fix a traditional Tex-Mex breakfast of tacos con huevos (tacos w/ eggs & stuff); huevos rancheros; nopalitos; lengua; tripas; menudo (great if you're hung over) or a dinner of fajitas & cabrito! Drop a line when you're coming in. :friday

Stick to one brand / make of speargun and one camo pattern of wetsuit. The better half will think you have just 1 gun and 1 wetsuit in your quiver, whilst you should get away with 5 or more! :t

You can apply this to pretty much anything!
