I find that I see more mullet towards the end of the season than in the spring. I guess it is because the suit gets a proper wash once a year and then "matures" through the summer months

Might be worth having a pee to see if it brings the mullet in close as they are notorious for investigating things that smell a bit dubious :)

I read somewhere that there was a strong correlation between surfers who were attacked by GW sharks and those who pee'd in their suits. Thing is I don't know anyone who doesn't get out of the water sloshing about in their own wee. Adds a new meaning to fill yer boots...

I've seen these add-ons in the French apnea spearo magazine where they teach you to make your own 'pissets' or 'pissoirs' I think they called them where they added a little wetsuite material pipe in the groin of the wetsuit to fit your todget into so you can spill straight out into the sea!!

With our cold water though I think I might have trouble with sizing the thing...

Today's tip:
Don't fit a pissette to your suit!

Endless possible pitfalls spring to mind-
Getting changed on beach during holiday season
Hanging suit up to dry where anyone can see it
Riding in boat with jacket off to keep cool on warmer days
Luggage search at airport
Daughter asking questions about suit
Wife saying "that can't be your suit" or "stop exaggerating"

getting it caught on the zipper was the first thing that came to my mind

Spiderman, that's disgusting!:D

:DOh...my favourite thread, try doing a search of the forum, there was some discussion on those before. I think another name is something like bec du canard(?) - duck's beak. They fit a rubber willy to your suit - could be an interesting conversation point in the car park - or while getting arrested.

Get yourself 5m of black or brown 3mm bungee from your local chandler/dive shop/ebay, and possibly some other sizes. It will stretch to double its original length. Has all sorts of uses: spear-line bungee, lanyard shock absorber, speargun-holder on float, super strong elastic bands (e.g. for holding fishing rod sections together). I recently replaced the wire loops on my crab pot with bungee, as the wire loop excluded larger crabs & lobsters. It might be the duct tape of spear fishing (duct tape is the "the universal tool" for repairs, reinforcement, enhancements & construction in Camp4/Sunnyside:)). Black waterproof duct tape (yes, there are different types & colours now) is pretty handy for drabbing down and temporary repairs.

Dont forget your stringer now repeat that 3 times before you go to bed and 3 times when you get up

I left it at home on Fridays dive and todays dive,,,unbelievable how important a piece of string and a spike can be.

Happened to me once and I found an old bit of wire in my van so fixed it on my belt. Caught an 8 lb 12oz bass that day and "wired" it to my belt. For the next half dozen trips I took the wire with me instead of the stringer. Didn't work though and eventually the stringer came back into favour.

So maybe keep an old bit of wire in the boot of your car.

With the evenings drawing in people's thoughts may turn to night diving , if so can I ask we all take a leaf from scuba-diving and carry a back up torch . Doesn't have to be expensive or fancy , so long as it will enable you to be seen and get safely to the shore should your main light fail . Most don't take a float at night , so something small enough to clip to a belt or fix to a mask strap is ideal . Stay safe and good hunting !

time to revive a great thread.

tip: red looses color underwater. something we all know but often forget while spearfishing.

Undersized fish photographed and posted on deeperblue are still undersized fish. Debating the placement of fish in camera angles, size of fin widths, gun lengths etc. will only paint you in a worse light.

Try telling that to that young pup on the South Devon thread...Mr SpearHeads.....17m too....wow :hmm

The 'Cisco kid' in Noth Wales has stopped it, and is no longer 'practicing' on small fish.
My old friend, good old Oliver seems to have refrained from posting countless mullet too.

Here's a tip:

Stick to productive, positive, useful tips.

Here's another:

PM the people that piss you off, don't contaminate any more decent threads with this stuff................or maybe you could start a 'Rant/Big Stick Education' thread and PM the link to the offenders?

:head

as mishu1984 said, this is a 'great thread'

Please feel free to PM me if you wish:)
