Torch - anybody use a torch for spearing?

It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I thought that didn't look like your XXV (btw I am already wondering if my next gun should be a 90cm XXV Gold -- perhaps I should actually get a fish with the 75 first:D).

Many years ago I decided to try something different from the fishcounter & picked the oddest looking best condition fish I could see. It was red & I cooked with ginger (possibly powdered?) and it was fabulous. Whenever I tried to cook it again it was never the same. In hindsight, I think the first fish was probably a red mullet & the subsequent fish Red Snapper. Must try it (again?) sometime.

Mmmmm red mullet, one of my favourites and a good spearing quarry when using a torch, got a good few last year, none this year though although there is always this weekend...

I dont like them to eat, taste like a freshwater fish! Yuk....but as I have said befor, they just look superb on a plate leaching out red oil & I will cook them for my friends who dont have my refined pallet.:)

I use these 2 one on arm one on head.

i found the beauty of the mini q40 & variants is there hands free if you set the rotating bezel (on/off switch)correctly the water pressure as you dive down to look under rocks, holes & caves etc. will illuminate the torch without you touching it, with the mask strap on as well you wont dislodge your mask,on your return trip to the surface the torch will turn it off saving battery life, hope this helps a few people make up there minds, headfirst to the deep, good luck & safe hunting
