I'll have to wait and see what they've got in store for me at work first - it will probably be another very last minute decision as to whether I can make it, or not (plus I've been getting in quite a lot recently, now that I'm working closer to home).

Reference the spear: seems to be flopping ok. I'm wondering if I should have been pulling the fish towards me straight away, and thereby immediately setting the barb against the fish, and then maintaining the pressure - as opposed to nailing him with the spear and then relaxing, while he goes nuts, thinking that I've got this one in the bag.

Im ok for this evening, just let me know where, Just bought a new gun from spearo uk and been told will be delivererd today so eager to try it out.

Hi gaz, have you tried bending the end of the barb up slightly as this helps stop the spear and the barb pulling back through the fish and allows the barb to take hold.

Gaz, looks like you are getting nearly as many fish as I am rabbits. Are you covering yourself in fish food or what? I still havent even seen a decent fish :head although the dives are getting better and the company is always good.
Anywhere Weymouth way suits me for the club dive. Cheers Steve

Got up at stupid o'clock this morning and met milko for some super dawn patrol hunting.

What a morning! The tide was spot on, the vis was better than expected, and at least 2 people in Dorset will be having bass for tea. I saw around 8 good bass in total and took one of about 5lbs. Milkman took 2 meal size bass but saw a lot more and even had a glimpse of..........well, i'll let rick explain (no, it wasn't my c*ck! rofl).

Feeling pretty exhausted now but well worth it, a great dive, even if it was a bit short.

If they've been fishing where I think they've been fishing then it isn't really suitable for a club dive. The combination of strong tides and heavy boat traffic make it a very dangerous place to fish (in fact, I know some very experienced spearfisherman who refuse to fish there because it is so dangerous).

Everything has to be in place at the right time to reduce the risk, which means that you cannot just turn up on a Tuesday night and hope to get away with it. In fact it is so dodgy that it would probably be irresponsible to name it on the open forum, in case someone reads it and then rushes down there and puts their life in danger.

Worse than all that, if you go with Chris he will probably try to flash you his c*ck!

Hi Paul,

It's ok, just too far from Yeovil mate - but this week is my last week down here. So from next week, club dive's to the East of the area are better for me. Swings in roundabouts.

I'll let you know how we get on.
