It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I was using a 75, but I only have the one & I am new to this game so I will be looking to come back with something soon.

I will hopefully be down at Osmington on Tuesday.

Gaz, if you are down there I will see you right after helping out with the parking, although they didn't seem to bothered at the time of purchase.

Laters

Scott

Thanks Scott - see you Tuesday:)

Thanks to you Paul we had a great dive warm water about 15 degrees I had 2 decent size mullett and 2 pollok the third mullet managed to get rid of my spear it was a bad shot the fish was too far but I was impressed about the precision of my new omer hf 90 wich I equipped with a double rubber bands.Paul had 2 nice bass for me I still have to wait for them. See you all on tuesday for the club diving, does anyone got the direction for osmington? Never been there before. Cheers.

Tony,

Just past the Ringstead turning on the A353(under a mile). Turn left when you see the Brown sign for Smugglers Inn & follow to the very end.

Failing that stick post code DT3 6HF‎ in your SatNav, that will bring you right to it.

Got back from my surfing trip to Cornwall yesterday (it was hoofing, by the way) and checked out a few spots on the way home. There was some excellent viz along the south west coast, but Osmington wasn't one of the best. I jumped in at that area anyway, for a couple of hours (circa 6pm -8pm), and saw plenty of bass around the 2 - 3lb mark. Looks like there is a lot of algae bloom around there at the moment, which is sitting mainly in the bottom couple of meters. Vis was about 4m near the surface, and about 2m further down. The fish were coming up out of the bloom to investigate me, and I was shooting them in the clearer water near the surface, with the 90 again. Took home 4 bass - nothing special, but I was happy. If you are only taking one gun then, judging by yesterday's conditions, a 75 should cover all bases.

Looked like there were 3 other spearos, operating from a boat, when I arrived, but they headed back towards Weymouth before I got in. Anyone on here? How did you get on?

P.S: Looks like a few people are saying that Tuesday isn't a good night for them - I'm happy to swap to a Wednesday, if everyone else is too. Discuss.

There's a fresh breeze blowing in from the south east over in Poole at the moment, and wind guru says that this is going to be the same for Osmington (which is susceptible to to getting blown out easily).

Is it worth having a back up venue, just in case we turn up and there is surf rolling in, wiping out the viz?

Chesil Cove maybe?

Anyone got an eyeball on the Osmington area?

Sorry didn't make it guys, hope the bloom wasn't too bad?

It was bloomin awful! Nil viz - nothin to do with the slight easterly just plangton. Still - Toni managed to pull out a fine Bass - pics & report please Toni:)

Here's my 4 small ones from Osmington last night (as modelled by my missus, because I don't like my big, fat, ugly head staring back at me from the computer screen).

Apparently the bass that Tony took this evening could swallow them whole - hurry up and get the photos on mate (God knows how you managed to shoot that fish in that viz).

First bass of the year guys under the kelp, she was by my side while I was doing aspetto(but I didn't notice),start to go up for fresh air when my eyes went straith down under the kelp was a tail moving getting my attention but I wasn't sure about what kind of fish it was becouse no vis, just the time to understand where the upper body was and I pulled my trigger. the reaction was mad,I coudnt see anything just the line for up to 1 and half meter the vis was too bad. When I finally put my hands on it I was amazed finally i got what I was waiting for:friday. Nice day a part the milky water.Hope the guys pulled something out of it.
the bass on the scale was 8.77 lb

Good effort mate! (by the way, I love your fat face and big nose - oh, and your bald head, horrendous complexion, stumpy legs, deformed hands, hunched back, woggle eye, terrible accent . . . )

Outstanding fish there, looked great in the flesh.

Regarding the club night, I am fine for any night at the moment.

Doesn't seem to be too many people attending the most important part of the club meetings at the moment: the after-dive drinks. There was only three of us last night, from a total of seven, who were in the pub to tell lies about the evenings underwater experiences.

It's obviously not compulsory, and people have often got other things they need to get away for, but it is nice to get together afterwards to swap stories over a quick pint.

If we all agree a time to be out of the water (8pm? 8.30pm?) that should hopefully leave half an hour for a quick bite to eat/drink/banter in the local boozer, for those that are interested.

Seemed to work ok last season (remember those curried hotpots, or whatever they were, at Lulworth last year?).

Just reminding everyone that it's an option, if they feel like it.
