2008 World team championship - Sharm el Sheik

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
It does not surprise me that the list (in general) ends up with the lowest populations up higher. Some exceptions of course, some teams had great showings and others had their issues. The US would have needed 30,500pts just to get in the top 5. All the competitive freedivers in the US could have competed and still would have come up extremely short I think. I know that is not the point of the chart you put together.

The real reason for my post: The points are great and all, I'm just glad that the sport has a core group of competitors and enthusiasts to organize and compete. I would like to say to the US competitors, thank you for going and representing us. The US Freediving community is pretty small and the divers representing the US are pioneers of the sport for us. Maybe one day I'll be able to compete at such an event!! I'm 36 and living in the middle of corn fields, I have a lot of work to do!! :D

Congrats to all the competitors from around the world, it was fun to watch the results come in!!

Great story, Sebastian, really could see it alla happening right under my eyes! BUT what is this 198 dive you told Mikko did? I thought it was 202 meters??? And was the pool 25 m or les? Remember reading from somewhere, that the length of the pool was not ordinarry. Or was it?

So Matti, who do you trust most, my memory or the official result sheets.
The young man turned and swam 202.

Bravo Finland.

Sebastian

The answer for that is in mine question, Sebastian ;)

Have a nice weekend!

Cebaztian, nice writing. Everything was stated very well. I also like your description of your 70 FIM.

I second IlDiver's assessment. Cezbastien's writings were excellent! Still cannot wait to see videos of the performances!

@trux
Maybe you can also check how many people train extensively (or even live) outside their country of passport.

@linda
great blog as usual, I do hope nobody offers you a reporter's job though so athletes will sleep more peacefully and perhaps you will compete again too

@sebastian
great blog too, thanks for your impressions... by the way, the french did not win the Ibiza competition 7 years ago. Italians did.

Nice video, the music adds a nice thrill to the competition. Love the cut of Martin's dynamic after surfacing... rofl

If anybody happens to have pics of my dynamic, could you get in touch please? AIDA NZ wants to do a press release but doesn't have any visual references to accompany it.

Well I need to really thank and prase AIDA Chech Republic, you've got some GREAT video's!!! I really enjoyed it, and what really stand outs is indeed the heroic themed music, what a nice change of theme of all these 'serious' ambient or techno background music. I think the classical and symphonic scores fit freediving nicely :)
Thank you for the great images!

Love, Courage and Water,

Kars

Unfortunatelly, we (the Slovak team) came later and saw only the second half of those nice DYN. Otherwise we would give it to you.

I've got a few shots from a distance of you looking really clean and as if you had done a 100 metre dive not 10 lengths of a 24.8m pool :)

They are not very good but at least something useful hopefully.

Send me a PM of an e-mail to send them to buddy, nice dive by the way :)

Steve
