AERIS F.10 User Feedback

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Got the "change battery" warning again yesterday, 7 days after I inserted the new battery, together with temporary inability to switch to FREE mode, some unmotivated beeps, and a "0" in front of the time - the F10 will go back to the shop soon enough. I always think: its such a pity that this computer has these bugs, would be so great without them

Another question; I have mailed DiveAeris 2 times regarding the API for F10 (and one about the firmwareupdate) - no answers. I'm considering writing a OSX program for F10 but i cant get any info about the commands the F10 wants thru the COM-port.

Does anyone have any info about this?

...So I uninstalled both the driver and the software, downloaded them again from the Aeris site, and installed them again. The software seems to be all in order now, BUT... I now cannot download anything from my F10! When trying to download from the watch, I either get "Starting Handshake..." and then after around 5 secs it says "Time Out", or I get the message "Invalid Product. Process Terminated"!

Anyone else had these problems and / or knows how to fix them?

Hi Guys,

Just to bring some closure and keep the information flowing in this thread - I've finally overcome the problem that I mentioned above! After I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers and the ACI software dozens of times on 4 different laptops, using Windows XP, Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 7 32-bit nothing helped, and I'd basically given up. Then, last week, I noticed the Beta-version of the ACI on the Aeris website. I downloaded it and whammo, it works!! I've put in on both my laptops (both with Windows 7 - one with 32-bit and one with 64-bit) and it works fine on both!

Whatever you changed Aeris, it's worked, so thanks very much, I'm back in action!! If only the weather would improve....

I got the battery warning too: after 6 hrs total divetime. I was in the sea when the warning came out and the diving session was stopped. After a while the warning disappeared and a new diving session was started. After a while the issue happened again and then again.
Furthermore, seems there's no way to force the end of a diving ession, so if I go diving before 24 hrs have passed since the last session, dive counts are accumulated to the previous session, without the possibility to see which dives refer to the first or to the second session (no date is available in the log either).
If you know how to force the closing of the diving session, please advice..

I confirm that the wet activation setting (on/off) is useless: the watch does not behave as reported in the manual.

I also inspected the battery. It's full. The battery holder is also not sealed at all, so the circuits are protected from water only by the o-ring.. If that is damaged, the watch is simply gone. That's the cheap way to implement "self replaceble battery".
Sorry to say but my previous D3 was not nice to see but much better then this one. F10 has not been a bargain so far!

Cheers,

My Aeris has absolute no problems!
But i have one other question:

I was freediving in Dahab with my GEO and my rope was nearly perfekt. I let it down to 50m and the GEO showed 50,x. Same with D4 and Cressy Edy.

So now I´m back in the Lake and i let my rope down to 45m and my new Aeris showed 42,4 ??!! Is such da difference caused by the freshwater?

Only partly. The difference between fresh and salt water is 3%. 45 meters on the line in fresh water should read 43.7 meters on a salt-water-only guage. Is the lake at a fairly high altitude? That might affect the reading as well on a guage that does not automatically adjust for altitude changes.

Changed battery this morning at 8.
Fresh one, a-brand. At 2 this afternoon in the Blue Hole it gave me my first "low battery" warning and lost 12 minutes. I bet that's a new record!
Guess I'll soon send it in. ;-)

Hello,

my f10 has just arrived back after the battery fix.
I did not test it yet but I want to thank Aeris tech assistance for the kind and quick support!
The computer has been tested in Aeris and the firmware updated to rev 1c.

I had the chance to check the pc interface and ACI sw and, after uploading the dive logs to the pc, I noticed that in the uploaded data the time and date of the session are reported. The session number either is there, and it is linked to the day; so the computer seems to log much more info that those that it is able to report at the display.. It could be fairly easy to fix the "session" issue then.
The count down timers issue and alarm issue are still there. I'll check if any change has been made to wet activation in rev 1c.

All in all, the issues I highlighted in some previous post are still there but hopefully Aeris could fix them in some further sw release.. Maybe Doug (Krause) might confirm that.. Could you, Doug? :)

Best Regards and thanks again.

Hi DB

Got my F10 back from Oceanic Europe, also with the firmware updated to 1c. So far (3 weeks) the low battery warning has not appeared, and the computer has not lost time as opposed to its owner....
Anyway, the wet activation "issue" is still there (so if the surface time counter is running in the background, which it does for 24 hours after last dive, the computer is still kicked into dive mode even thou wet activation is set to off).

Very best regards
H!

I've spoken with aeris about that 24 hour thing - I think they should reduce it to 8 at most - everybody email them and suggest the same and I bet we can get it changed.

...1 hour would definitely be enough. Don't see reasons to keep it longer..

Any chance to include the date in some dive log?

Cheers,

I was thinking 8 - since that would let you know how many dives you did in a day pretty reliably. But 8 hours between dives in the same day is probably unlikely - though last time I was at Dean's Blue Hole I would dive from 8 or 9 to 11 am - then take it easy until about 5 or so and dive for a couple more hours.

I agree, 1 hour is fine. Its always possible to consult the log to see when the last dive was.
Writing Aeris straight away.

EDIT: Fondue, I get your point concerning the continuos numbering of dive sequences. 8 hours or so may be better.

Very best regards
H!

I had a strange one yesterday... after the morning's diving I downloaded my dives onto my laptop with no problems. However, just after disconnecting the F10 from the cable it beeped loudly, went into dive mode and decided it was at 11.1m depth! The dive time started counting, and continued beeping away (at every 30sec which is what I have it set on) for a full hour... very annoying! As soon as the dive time ticked over an hour it stopped, and went into normal mode, as if nothing had even happened!

Anyone else had this happen?

Cheers

Yes, strange situation to find your desktop being located below sealevel roflHas not happened after 1c firmware update thoue.

Very best regards

Indeed it is... although impressed myself with holding my breath for an hour - might have to keep that one in the log!! :friday

The firmware update I guess is only by sending your watch in to Aeris I assume? Ah, the dramas of living in Brazil.........

For sure you should keep it. I got unpaitient and pulled the battery. Problem solved :blackeye

Guess sendin it in is the only way. I send mine to a Swedish importer who took it to Oceanic in Germany himself. After returning to Sweden, he send it to my Danish retailer, who send it back to me..... The dramas of living in Denmark rofl

Hahaha... dramas indeed! The problem here is that the customs will hold my watch when it comes back in, until I pay them millions of dollars of import duties.... it's impossible! I think the answer will be to send it off just before a trip home to Australia, and pick it up from my parents place when I get there. Or just live with these little quirks....

I believe the firmware upgrade is possible via the PC interface. It is not advertized on the Aeris website at F.10, but it is possible with several other Aeris models. And according some user messages about f.10 that I found on the web, in case of troubles Aeris sometimes asks the customer to perform the firmware upgrade before further troubleshooting. Hence if you do not find the firmware upgrade function in the PC software, try contacting the support, and hopefully they'll give you the instructions. Please let us know the result.

I tought somebody from aeris was watching this thread
maybe we could get a couple of answers to our questions
last time i sent it to support it took forever to get it back
Maybe they should put the firmware available on their site and let the customer upgrade (if possible) probabily they would sell lots of cables
