AERIS F.10 User Feedback

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
call the guys in the USA?? (calls are free on skype to 800 numbers ;) they may (or may not) be able to help.

dive watches don't seem to last for ever, a couple of years seems to be my case..

probably will do when back home at the moment I am on holiday and most of my dives will be dated 1.1.1989

i seem like a loon, but I always take a backup dive watch on any important dive trips...

Got out with my F10 for the first time yesterday. Had lots of fun with a friend just playing around in the water and so far everything worked great, so no complaints from me.

A question though: should I get the cable? I ignorantly thought that it came included - now I'm just not sure if I should bother or not.

The cable is a great tool if you compete and need to analyze and compare sessions. You can see finstrokes, arm pulls etc and count them.

For regular spearing I never download anything though. I would not bother unless you compete.

I search for the strap but in their web site they say only strap of monta/epic avai;able does it match that watch ?

Hi guys! I believe I have a great idea to improve/mod my Aeris F10 v2.
Here it is...
I was searching for that lens protector film over the internet. The original one came off within the first week or so..
Then I came accross with the plastic lens cover on freedivestore.com. It looks very nice but the shipping rate to Greece would cost more than the product itself.
Then it came to me..
Why not make a protective lens by using a magnifying lens that would fit the screen of the watch?
So you would get both protection and magnification of alphanumeric screen..
The only problems are to find a lens that's about 40 mm or 1.57 inches Ø, the correct shape to sit on the screen and a way to stick in on to the screen firmly but not permanetly

Comments please...!

Hi Georgez - probably you did not put the lens protector on correctly. It is a little tricky. There is a thin, clear layer that must be peeled off. Then you use water to get it into position on the watch and it will never come off.

I'm pretty sure I did everything by the book. It was the rinsing process that might have caused this

Possible. I nearly went insane the first time I put a lens protector on one of these. Now it's so easy I feel like an idiot.

I should say - I've got about 500 dives on the f.10 v3 with ZERO problems. These are pool dives - since the open water around here is frozen to the point of having caves on it, but I've managed to test quite a few functions. I like the way the logs work, and the back-out function really simplifies things. Like the v2, the v3 is a rock-solid pool training aide when set to 2 feet activation. Also: rumor has it there will be a firmware flash for the f.11 along soon.

How do you use it for pool training? I mean, total apnea time or anything else? The chrono sucks, it's not actually showing lap times, for running laps in a track I mean..

Also, v2 and v3 are two different dive watches, right? I was looking forward to hear for a firmware update. Do you know anything?

The V2 works great for pool training as well. I just set the activation depth for 2 ft. Compared with video it is more accurate than I thought it would be. I've no word on a firmware update for the v2. The V3 has a new processor. For pool work they perform the same.

What about my idea? Anyone?
Is it worth the trouble?

Hi Georgez, the Suunto d3 came with such a lens. It was made of silicone and attached to the watch strap. The d3 was quite small and could be difficult to read - so it helped, but it also tended to turn opaque after awhile and made the watch harder to read from an angle. I've not had problems reading the f.10 but if you could find a a lens that would fit on there it would be interesting. I'd just make sure it's removable.

To necro an old thread...due to work I wasn't able to dive as much as I wanted over the course of the last two years. Now I'm finally able to get back into it so I grabbed my Aeris F10 v1 from the shelf it was sleeping on for so long. Now I'm wondering, is there a firmware update I missed? My watch currently has r1d on it and I vaguely remember being able to download firmware updates from http://www.oceanicworldwide.com/temp but that site seems to be dead. At least it results in an 404 for me.

On a side note, if I would want to purchase a new watch, should I go with the Oceanic Aeris F11 or the Omer UP-X1/Sporasub SP2 (they seem to be identical as far as I can tell) ? The HR tracking is a pretty nice feature in my opinion

Updates usually come down through the software - heres the site http://www.diveaeris.com . Don't know much about the Sporasub watch. I like the f.11 - in main it goes deeper, has a bigger display, sampling rate setting, really long battery life etc. I prefer the surface display on the f.10 though - the f.11 only shows previous dive for the duration of the BDSI - then reverts to the 'Free' screen - which just has your surface interval.

I checked the Aeris site but I'm unable to find anything at all to download there for the F10. If you go to Support -> Software you are only able to download drivers and something for CompuMask, Epic, elite T3, Manta, ATMOS elite, ATMOS ai, XR-2, and ATMOS 2. That's why I was asking :)

As for the depth concerning the F11 vs. the UP-X1 - The UP-X1 goes to 100m, that's more than enough for me since I'll primarily want to use it for spearfishing. But thanks for your input and fast response!
