If I remember correctly, Chrismar had a bed left over in the Danhostel a few days ago. You can try him.

I need to warn you though, those Kiwis are in a murderous mood lately and if one misses a final there will be death by freedive equipment. They have not yet stated if the executions will be a public or private matter and if there will be collateral damage. Sleeping there could be lethal……..

Only deadly if we dig into a reindeer curry the night before...

I'll check if we have still have a spare bed ;)

Hi crhismar I'm going to aarhus from the 21 to the 22 we you are open to buddy up and share the expense I will be happy. Aren't you all kiwis going to nordic deep?I wanted to go but I don't have a decent monofin :S

but thanks for checking,
curry?the only problem that you may have is that... I probably gonna make you all envy since I can drink and you can't :D

but I will put the booze in a good use by cheering NZ team up:D

I just have a few quexstions: Does anyone know how many athletes will compete in each qualifying heat?
Will the athletes announcing lowest start? It usually is that way but is it always like that??
Thanks
Bjarte

Hi Bjarte,

I'm not sure if the decisions about the questions you ask have been made yet. I could think that this is something the organisation is bound to put together when they know who and whow many athletes are starting.

In Maribor, it was two athletes per heat to start.

Obout your other question:
3.3.11
The OT times for the official attempts are determined the day before the performances at the beginning of
the event committee. The order in which the athletes start can be determined by announced performance
or by draw.

Cheers
Martin

News from the event commity:

We are now almost 200 registered athletes competing in Freewc09, which may be making it the biggest freediving event ever. Does anyone know?

The Danish Nikon ambassador and uv-photographer Casper Tybjerg has just announced that he will be joining Morten Bjoern Larsen in the pool on Thursday and Friday. This means that there will be two Danish pro uv-photographes at the event. Check out Caspers website here: http://www.ttf.dk

There are still more spots on the judge course. For more info check out http://www.freewc09.dk

Hi guys and gals
just arrived in Aarhus and will try to keep you guys up to date with whats happening here at WCh. (free internet at the hotel will help that too)

I will be at the pool for the 1st official training tomorrow morning and will be working with the safety team from Monday onwards

Now it is official! CMAS and AIDA WC under one roof!!!

Here is the news from the organization commitee this morning:

Freewc09.dk will be an event that houses two world championships. Both CMAS and AIDA will carry out their individual pool world championships at the event. Practically this means that AIDA and CMAS athletes will be competing by the rules stipulated by each organization at the same event, but not at the same time.

The website for AIDA is still www.freewc09.dk

The website for CMAS is www.freewc09.dk/cmas.html

We are very pleased that both organizations have chosen to go ahead with this shared arrangement and are happy to be able to provide the setting for at joint freediving event.

The AIDA schedule has been changed and DYN and DNF has switched places. The updated schedule is on the website.

Please remember to book hard floor accommodation at the gym. There is a limit of 100 people, who can stay here. Register on the website.

Getting around in Aarhus is easy with public transportation. For those staying in the centre of the city another good option is to rent a bike. Aarhus is a small enough city to get around in by bike, and it is easy and affordable to rent bikes at www.bikes4rent.dk. It may be a good idea to book bikes ahead of the event, as we are still in the holiday season in August.

I am even more looking forward to this event now. It will have the world of freediving in one place...

Thats great news. I would hope that this would be a perfect opportunity for the two to finally combine forces.

Good luck to all athletes, i wish you all good performances :)

Hya all,
first training day today (unofficial one) and just had a taste of the swim stadium which is really a great venue with a nice pool - the organisation is working like mad to get everything online for Tuesday and by the looks of things everything will be shorted in time.

So whats happening? Well people are just arriving now - from the familiar faces we have:
Judges: Kimmo Lahtinen, Grant Graves (Doing a judge course) Ute and Linda (just arrived and found sweating at the hotel gym)
Athletes: Alexei and Natalia Molchanov, Carlos Coste, Anna Von Boetticher, Lotta Ericson, Jessica Wilson, Elisabeth Kristofferson, Kerian Hibbs and many others.

Training today was short of laid back with a lot of people trying equipment etc...tomorrow more athletes will be here and the safety training and judge course will commence so we will have more info.

Stay tuned

Thank you Stavros for your update! I'm looking forward to the next ones. I would love to hear your observation as to who is in shape, new techniques, equipment, some interviews, fun stuff, witness the transformation as the competition nears, and off cause photo's!

I guess I'm a pretty demanding guy ;)

Ciao, and again thanks!

Hi,

first training day is done and everyone is running around like headless chicken... At least everyone who is involved in the organization...

There is a YouTube channel up but now videos yet:

YouTube - freewc09's Channel

You might want to check it out some time.

Tomorrows training is splitt in two. First, 50m training in the swim stadium from 12-14:00 h, then 25m training at the pool in Gellerup from 15-18:00 h.

People are still arriving and trying to find their way. Everybody seems to be pretty excited... except for Natalia. She was just calmly swimming her laps...

hmmm, i would like to point out that it's not true i was sweating! i don't sweat, since sweating it's not fashionable!

So where can i find the AIDA schedule ? On the main website the schedule links to CMAS schedule. Also from there if you check athletes you go to CMAs athletes.
Seem a bit garbled the links.

As always hilarius and great read rofl

Have you ever considered changing your carreer to writing.
Become a world famous novelist ,get lots of money and lots of guys who all want to marry a rich chick. Seems to me the perfect solution to all your problems
