BTW, I plan bringing my family with. However, they'd like to visit Kobenhavn too. Can anyone of you locals tell me if there is some easy and cheap way to go to Kobenhavn from Aarhus?

I think 218 is a bit much; I think more like 206m ; 200m + turn and 1 stroke.

Forgive my ignorance but I don't recall Jesper doing much more than 200. Actually I witnessed his first 200m in competition in Aarhus last year. But maybe he's one of those that manage to keep progressing in fairly linear way, who knows!

It's nice to hear Henning is there, especially all the way from Florida where -I believe- he currently works. Maybe the odd pool sizes did bring some unexpected progress?

No, I simply always forgot how to spell Molchanova, so thats the reason .

Jesper did 211m in Berlin this February and looked strong. From what I know, Henning is comming.

As for the ladies I hoped that Josephine Jørgensen (172m in Berlin) would go, but shes not. Eva (another dane , 168m)is comming, but I dont know how much she has trained in the pool in Mozambique...?

Im not to good with the ladies internationally... Thou Fabrio Karla and Meguni Matsomuto should be among the top.(?) Anna Von Boettinger has generally imprved a lot lately... but how much further than 150m can she go?

I thought it might be a nice thing for you to take a closer look at what is awaiting you.

The pool is 1,80m deep all the way BUT there are no tiles!!! This has been a problem for some divers who could then not estimate there speed. Something you might want to look for in the official training dives as well...

In the middle of the pool there seems to be two marks in the blue bottom lane line...distance is maybe 5 m. Are those about 22,5 m and 27,5 m from the edge? It's a good thing that there are some marks anyway.

Just about. In the middle of the pool is a wall hanging in the air to be lowered to create one 25m and one "close-to-25m" lane. The wall is about one meter wide.

The markings are the turning points when approaching this wall when it is lowered into the water.

You can trick your mind thinking you are half way through when you see the first one... That is what I did anyways...:blackeye

I just wonder what medical certificate will be required for the WC. Until now, at AIDA competitions I used my medical certificate based on the form of the French FFESSM (CMAS) federation, but I'd like to avoid bad surprise being refused just because of an unsuitable cert.

Is the new AIDA Medical Statement mandatory? If so, is it available in other languages too, or in a multilingual form like it was at some older versions? I am not quite sure if my doctor will accept filling a document not written in French. Or can I come with my old FFESSM cert? Also, what is the maximal permitted age of the cert?

OK, I found this in the rules:

3.1.8​

All athletes must be in possession of a signed "medical certificate of non contraindication to freediving" written in English in order to participate in competitions; the medical certificate cannot be older than one year. The signature must be that of a doctor and must include contact information. If an athlete is a doctor, they cannot sign their own medical certificate.​

It tells nothing about any mandatory form of the medical statement, hence I suppose the older multilingual forms can be used too. One of them is for example here: http://www.aida-czech.cz/cz/download/lekarske_potvrzeni.pdf though it is not as detailed as the above linked new official model. Well, I have to make a new one anyway, so I better let the doc sign them all.

My understanding is that the medical certificate needs to be quite literally what it says: A medical certificate of any sort, signed by a doctor with contact details, that states that there is no reason for the athlete not to freedive. That's what our preferred dive doctor here in Wellington gives us and I believe that's what Kathryn went to the WCs two years ago on and Dave went to the team WCs on. I don't think a specific form needs to be filled out.

That was my understanding as well. This was the case at the last WC and at every AIDA competition I attended, so I hope there are no changes in that departament. Miha

Well, the rule clearly states it must be in English. While it likely poses no problems to Kiwis and other similar outbursts of the Royal family, for people living in countries like France where English is as much comprehensible to an average citizen as Sanskrit, it could be a bad surprise if their French certificate was refused (and that despite that French is actually the original AIDA language, and official language of the country AIDA resides - the Switzerland). I'll better do a new one - I need it for the next season anyway, so just let's hope my doc understands little bit of English, and does not refuse signing it.

When I was a judge in 2005 and 2007 at the world championships that year, there were indeed some problems with medical certificates because they weren't in English. Some athletes had to do a medical exam at the spot, finding a doctor to do it for them at the competition city. So be carefull with this one!

Doesn´t sound as a bad thing to me. CMAS is pretty etablated in scuba so should also add to AIDA recognition within those circles...

I had a post concerning the entrancefee for the depth WC. I don`t know much about organizing comps so this is not meant as critique for that event but rather as a huge compliment to the indoor WC. It seem very well organized. The web page is great and the economy is impressive. Medals, bronzesculptures, 4200 EURO in prizemoney, 6 Elios suits, 6 liveaboard cruises, 18 Suunto D4, hardfloor accomodation, food, and not least an Olympic swimming pool for 8 days. And the fee is only 165-195 EURO for the athletes. Great work so far:inlove
