AIDA Results Register

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
OK, thanks, guys. The reindexing is completed, so if you still see it somewhere (or any other errors), please let me know.

PS: anyone of you knows whether the 2nd Hemmoor competion this year really took part? Was it cancelled?

And what about the other missing AIDA competitions, nobody has any feedback about them? Did they tak place? Are there really no German, Dutch, Greek,.. freedivers who could tell me something about those missing competitions?

Eric, you can perhaps find out about the Dutch and Hemmoor competitions? Stavros, did not you run some of the missing Greek comps?

I'd like to ask all people taking part on competitions to make some pressure on the organizers, asking them to send results to AIDA (and/or to myself) instantly (and preferably in Excel or Open Office format). You pay for it, but 80% of organizers does not do what they were paid for. Instead of it I often have to run after them for weeks, and search the results from alternative sources. So please annoy the organizers untill you are sure they've sent the results. Threaten them with requests of refunds if they did not send the results.

If I count all the missing results together (including the past years), there are several thousands of euros that were fraudulently taken from competitors without using them for what they were taken for. Personally, I do not care - I do not take any money for the ranking, and will add even any unofficial results without any payment too, but the competitors who pay for each their performance should be upset.

Ivo, i've just emailed you the results of the Double Dip Down Under - I think there was a typo in the email address that the organiser sent to originally.

Cheers,
Ben

Yes, thanks, Ben. Got it, and the results are online now.

BTW, I see Jasmine with the names Bastow and Baslow in the ranking. Which one is correct?

Most likely it was cancelled. Martin was the organizer. I see yellow card for Jure Daić's NLT 12/02/2009 in Dean's Blue Hole Crew. Don't know how it technically possible in NLT.

Well, there are certainly some possibilities (for example you stop the sled and ascend before reaching the AP), but I am unsure what was the problem here. I just reviewed the file from the organizer, and there is indeed a 101 points penalty. I have no idea why. You may contact Will Trubridge (the organizer), or the judges: Robert King, Ben Weiss, Henning Larsen, or DeeDe Flores - perhaps they remember. Or ask Jure

I just added a more detailed header at competition result pages. It now includes full competition name, place, date, diverse links (Freedive Central, AIDA Calender,...), ranking status, disciplines, and even judges (if known). See it for example here:

APNEA.cz - Ranking

Missing AIDA competitions for the year 2010 are down to only 5 now, thanks to the feedback I received:

APNEA.cz - Ranking

The WR is marked correctly there, and it is 144m (at women). The performance 170m finished with a blackout and a disqualification. The non-AIDA performances and disciplines use different system of points, hence this specific report is sorted by the value of the performance performance instead of points, hence unlike at the AIDA competition performances, the disqualified and penalized performances appear along the normal one (as long as the distance was reported). I will look whether I can do something with it, but there are some complications in this case.

Yes, that record was previously reported by CMAS, but I guess it was at different depth. The original depth of the cube was 20m (or 15m?), and then several times changed (there were too many blackouts). I think that currently it is done at 5m, but I may be wrong, I know little about CMAS competitions. And I suppose that each time CMAS changes the depth, they also start the WR list anew At least all the WR's noted in the ranking come from the official documents at cmas.org, so I guess they are correct.

In fact if you click the link of the competition at the older records, you get the explanation in the notes:

APNEA.cz - Ranking

At Kazankova it shows WR @ Depth 15m. The depth was changed to 10m in 2006.

I have added some more info to the competition pages. Besides others, it displays also a list of the same competitions from previous years (for example all Triple Depth competitions). It can be useful for example when you check what the competition uses to look like when deciding about the participation).

The competition page can also show a slideshow of photos from the event. I have added photo galleries of over 50 competitions so far. You can see those competitions with galleries listed here:

http://apnea.cz/ranking.html?md:cmp+srt:beg+cmpn:gallery

Click the competition name to load the page with the competition details,
gallery, and results. If you know about other photo galleries, please let me know. Currently the interface supports Picasaweb and Flickr galleries, but I can add also other popular platforms, if an API is available.

The page header can include also a logo of the competition, (like for example here), so if you are a competition organizer, and want a logo displayed in the ranking, please send it to me.

I also managed to find results of another old competition, that did not appear on any lists - the Apnoe in Greene, Germany. I think especially BennyB will be pleased, because as far as I understood it was his very first competition, and he won the DYN there:

I have just added some nice graphs to the personal competitor profiles in the ranking. There are now radar graphs displaying the PB's (Personal Bests) of all six AIDA competition disciplines of the respective competitor.

There are six axes in the graph - one for each discipline. Then there are four hexagons. Three light-blue-green ones, and a darker-blue one. The outermost light hexagon denotes the current world records for each respective discipline (and for the gender of the selected competitor). Then the second a bit darker hexagon delimits the national records of the competitor's country, and the third one shows the global average performances in given disciplines. Usually the averages are smaller than the national records, hence the average hexagons is usually the smallest of the three. In some countries though, it may be the other way and the hexagon of national best performances can be smaller than the global averages.

And then there is the dark hexagon showing the personal best performances of the competitor. The bigger the dark polygon, the better the freediver. You can also quickly see what the favorite disciplines of the person are. And it is similarly easy to distinguish between pool rats (dark spot shifted to the right-upper corner) and depth junkies (shifted left-bottom).

And of course, the selection of the year or federation the top menu will influence the graph too.

The axes are calibrated in AIDA points (although performances of other federations are also included). The maximum outer grid on the chart is for 150 AIDA points, and the gray grid shows each 10 points. If you move the mouse over the points in the graph, the tool-tip shows you the exact values and labels.

I'll be adding many other graphs (as time allows), and give me some feedback (bug reports, wishes, comments, ...) so that I have some motivation for further work. And many thanks to those who supported me in the past with some donations - it is very much welcome

Logically to put all pool disciplines at the top and all depth at the bottom.

Well, in fact there is place reserved for some other disciplines (Jump Blue, 16x50, and the new CMAS disciplines), to the order has its purpose. But I am not yet certain whether I add the other disciplines or not. Currently they are no popular enough, and the gaps they would create at most competitors would disturb the readability, so perhpas I could change it, indeed.
