I've seen them yesterday in Zagreb Fair. They look realy good. Hope to see independent review soon! Now, I'm in "trilemma", Flap, Mustang or Majestic :)

Dear Friends,
I am Marco Bonfanti from C4 Italy. Thank you for your interest in our Mustang's fins.
The first delivery will be in March and I decide that all Mustang will be make only with 100% Carbon.
The difference between 100% Carbon and the mix of Carbon/Fiberglass is very very little, but I think that you will be more happy...

While I was planning the Mustang I thought that will be right to realised a Monofin.
I think before summer...

Ciao, Marc4

A monofin with mustang footpocket design... now that really gets my interest going. I think I'll hold off buying a mono until I hear more about this.

I have a huge amount of respect for C4 design / manufacture - like many others I love my C4 Falcon's (except for the flimsy side rails)!

Hi everyone,
I was surfing a bit on the internet, and found this Test on the C4 Mustangs. It's in Italian, so I'm guessing a lot what is meant, but at least it seems that the author founds the fin more beautiful in real than on published fotos.

Anyway here is the link:

Have a nice day,
Christophe:)

Hmmmm, I tried to read though it. I am someone who easily learns words, but has a real hard time with the grammer of other languages.

It doesn't appear they were totally impressed with the Mustangs. What I got out of it is this:

1. The pockets are very comfortable on the foot and espeacially the toes. They compare it to a cyclist's shoe. The foot is very comfortable and relaxed.

2. The laces were very strong and they did not break no matter how hard they pulled.

3. The blades are a bit wide and on rare occasion would hit each other.

I know this isn't much help, but I tried :) .

Maybe spaghetti will jump in since he is an italian journalist!

Jim

How could I say "no" to you, Jim? Later I may post full translation of the bluworld.com test, if you want me to.
Just yesterday I read on a paper magazine that there is also a spearfishing version of mustangs, but they didn't specify the difference between the two. Maybe Marco Bonfanti or Mark L. will gently explain this point here on DB.

I'm more than glad to jump in and thank you for the opportunity to elaborate a bit on the Mustangs:

Marco tells me the spearfishing version differs from the apnea version only in the rubber rails. The rubber rails on the apnea are full size to channel the water in a more vertically efficient diving style whereas sculling and frog kicking are hampered significanty in my experience with the full size channels.

Therefore the spearfishing version will have a reduced lower profile channel to aid in sculling and frog kicking which is an important quality while hunting and stalking for most spearfisherman. This is the only difference I'm aware of and if I find out differently I'll be happy to re-report back on this thread.

The Mustangs will be available in May, prices will be somewhere at MSRP $500 from US dive shops. The Mustangs will come in full size runs for the different L & R pockets in the 30 and 40 versions at first. The 25's have received the least amount of interest and request so far.
The fins will be guaranteed for 2 years and exchanged freely if purchased from authorized USA / Canada / Caribbean and Central American C4 dealers.

the apnea fins have rails with constant height while the spearfishing fins have variable rail height: the same as the apnea inthe midle of the fin and getting shorter to the end and to the footpocket (as can be seen in the photo form the italian review).
that's what i understood from reading the info on the c4 site but it info from someone that has actually seen it is better :)

nice fins :inlove

Hi Everyone,

I tried my C4 Mustangs today- spearfishing 30's

My foot sliped into the footpocket and was surported evenly all the way around, it felt like I was wearing a Nike runing shoe. It was very comfortable.

I swam a few lengths doing 25m's and 50m's and they felt great, like there was nothing there at all! Very smooth, my technique seemed better as I wasn't rolling my ankles too much.

I then put a falcon on one foot, Mustang on the other and I was amazed at the differnece. Firstly the footpocket on the Omer was much differnt, it wasn't as comfy and I felt pressure in the usual places on the bridge and sides.
It feels like the falcon has more resistance in the water compared to the Mustang, I am not sure but put it down to the flap geometry, but partly could do with a better fitting footpocket and the blade fixed well into the foot pocket. as the Omer foot pocket is designed for thick plastic blades and leaves a gap in the side rails. it just felt like the Falcon was draging behind with the same force applied to both legs, where the Mustang glided through effortlessly.
Forgetting which one was on each foot, I could instantly tell by the fit of the footpocket, and then by the stroke.

I will be adjusting my laces oer the next few weeks to see what feels best and to give my new Sanderson booties to wear in. You must add some lube when threding the foot pocket, it makes it much easier, if not, the laces will snap if pulled hard enough when dry- trust me ive done it!!!

I am VERY impressed with them and would recomend them to anyone who wants the best fins in the world, for upgrades for plastic fins and a cheaper price would still recomend fitting the Falcons into your existing foot pockets.

Is it just me or do they look like a football boot stuck on a floor board???

I'm sure years of research went in to the design but I prefer the original C4's and given a choice I'd buy a set if ice fins, mainly because they look cool:)

I know I'm not going to break any world records so I might as well look good out there!!!!

It's a personal thing but i think that the mustangs look realy cool... and imagine you arrinving to a pool with a pair of ice fins or a pair of mustangs... in wich case would tou get more attention?
Ok there's a 160 € diference....
I just want the mustangs so i'm being very partial :)
By the way is there any online shop that sells them? I have found some sites with reference to it but none with the pick product, check out and your done.

You will change your mind once having put your foot into the Mustang!

You will never convince me that a plastic fin performs better than a carbon one, there are so many differnces between an Ice and a Mustang on every level.

Email C4 to find your nearest Authorized Dealer.

Don't know the address yet but in a week or so there will be a new online shop dedicated to these fins. Let you know when I have the link.

I bought my Mustangs through a dealer in France, but had to pay by bank transfer ( expensive in the UK ) :naughty and communicate ( in French ) by email. Not ideal, but the fins arrived OK.

I tried them last night without the laces, and I am more than pleased. I have medium stiffness ( in the fins that is :) ) with the apnea rails. My dynamic technique is not brilliant, but the fins seemed to compensate as and when needed, where other carbon fins have not. Especially with differing speed / amplitude.

This weekend I'm lacing up the boots, and next weekend seeing how they perform in 'quarry' Constant Weight.

That's some great news Mark :D
I can't wait to see them.
I am glad you received them that quickly
I wonder how long I will be able to resist the temptation

Me.... We're finishing the website as we speak, maybe a week or so. If you want them earlier pm me which type and you get a price.
