Got in today down Lizard way. Vis was poor to start and improved to 5m.I covered a lot of ground, about 2.5 miles and saw very little in the way of bass maybe 10 fish total and all pretty small plus 2 mullet which i didn't fancy. Did see one clunker which was 1cm away from my spear tip yet somehow i managed to miss. Tit.

Did find a boat rod and reel which just about justfies the long drive.

Ha there is no vis around my way at all and the weather sucks so i'm heading to Thailand on Friday for a month, wondering wether to take my gear or whether to buy some out there... I found a guy who runs spearo trips out to a reef on request. It looks like some spearos have had some serious fish out there, so fingers crossed i'll have some pics to bring back :D.

I just got some bulk rubber (19mm, 16mm & 14mm), 1.9mm dyneema & nickel/brass wishbone beads from this American company. The rubber is really fresh (they emailed me recently to tell me they had a fresh batch in:D). I think it took about a week to arrive with their standard cheap shipping.



They also sell on ebay but the Dyneema is cheaper on their own website. Their shipping is confusing when using eBay but not expensive - I got them to send me a Paypal invoice with shipping included, as a quote, to ensure I knew what the shipping charge would be.

The rubber appears to be the same as (or v. similar to) that used by Rob Allen, et al - which I believe is sourced from the USA. (I suspect my "20mm" RA band is probably the same as this "19mm" band, which is American 3/4").

Lazuli, no rail? (Looks cool :cool:)

Huw have a great time in Thailand and we’ll all be waiting back here with plenty of Dettol and a wire brush for when you get back.:D

Blimey! The rain up my way is like a full-on tropical monsoon :rcard. Cannot be doing anything for the water quality. All of Truro's drains dumping into the river and heading for Falmouth - nice! Well, it may give the Mullet a false sense of security.

This weather is doing my head in.

Hi guys,

Anybody got any info/tips on spearing in the Bude area? Heading that way camping for a few nights in a couple of weeks. Hope the summer will have arrived by then?!!

i'm in Bude at the moment parked up in my camper van in a big layby near millock, widemouth bay. been out surfing on mediocre waves and could do with some fish to subsidise my vegetarian diet. The speargun has seen no action since shooting bass on anglesy last week. diet...
