Lazuli you evil man!

Ive had problems with the gabianno Gaz, mainly with loading and tangling but I agree with Badlander once i changed to mono its gotten easier. Ive never lost a fish once ive shot it though... I find the floppers turned up enough and is actually harder to pull back through the fish than my old one.

hey guys, I have to go to Truro tomorrow to pick up my parents, was thinking about a dive somewhere while I'm there, but it's blowing a gale here in Dorset at the moment, whats it like down there. any viz on the South coast??

Ok buddy, I've just come out of the water Falmouth area. Water clarity is quite good, patches of haze and suspension depending where you are in relation to reefs etc. Anywhere between 2 and 5 meters. Visibility is foreshortened close in by suspended matter but may be better further out or where there is more movement. Windy but not choppy, in fact very flat. I'd say do-able.

Not much about, only tiddly flounder and mullet seen. Big tide as well.
I'll be in tomorrow.

Spearo -

Crap in Carlyon and St Austell Bay at present - more viz in a cup of the wife's tea. Would expect the Falmouth area to be the best offering more areas of shelter.

Yeah I'm south coast right now and have been dying to get in for the last few days... vis is awful with a big swell to go with it. I'd try north... as i will be doing.

Been in again (Falmouth beaches). Water nice n' clear but not very fishy. Did see an enormous Mullet half stuck in a hole eating something but by the time I trained my gun round he was off. Lots of Bluefire jellyfish (see pic) ranging from golf ball to football sized, plus one lion's mane jelly fish. Seems to be a lot about. Also a couple of baby flounder inshore. Removed a motorbike battery from the water which some a##h#le decided to chuck in the sea. :vangry

ive been noticing a hell of alot of jellyfish round here aswell

Its strange as I hardly saw any last year. Talking of your neck of the woods Dan, I remember seeing Lion's mane jellies the size of dustbin lids when out mackerel fishing from Ladram Bay as a kid. Got badly done a couple of summers ago when I back stroked into one off Budleigh rofl.

I got stung by one those Massive blue jelly fish last week. Swimming up from a dive looked up see how far i got to go, Smack right into my face, got me good and it hurt like hell. hahaha does make me laugh thinking about it.

the other day i had to dive out the way of one as the vis was bad didnt se it till the last minute have sen sum at otter cove must have been 6ft tall dunno wat time it was though dnt fancy a tango wit a jellyfish

Crept in for a quick dive this evening down Falmouth way. Visibility was awful. Very misty and opaque. Looked ok but was disappointing.

I was keen to go in as I have just converted my gun to 18mm amber latex band rubber and wanted to try it out. Very pleased with the result. Loading is much improved and the gun fired in a smoother, snappier, more elastic manner. Accuracy also seemed improved with less spear wobble and greater consistency. The 18mm OMER power rubber I had been using seemed a bit clunky and abrupt, almost too thick and solid.

Found a Flounder for my supper who will shortly be pan fried in butter, garlic and capers.

Nice work Laz, I've been thinking of having a go at making bands like that for my Omer XXV. I'll have time to do it now having picked up a middle ear infection sometime during the last 2 dives this week on south coast. Doc has banned any water activity for a while :crutch

Anyone out there using a Spearo UK Venom Apnea off the shelf suit? I could do with a quick review or comparison to previous suits you have owned.

I've got a friend who wants to buy an open cell suit asap. He's a bit poor and has been saving his pennies for quite a while now, so I don't want to recommend anything to him that isn't up to the job, as it would take him another year to save up for something else!

All responses gratefully recieved,

I've used one for a season and a half and am really pleased - it is warmer than my semi dry (so much so I use it on the yak in cold weather) - give dave your mates measurements and he will make sure it fits - mine is slightly large cos I'm short for my weight if you get my drift!!!!
