Maybe picking rubbish off the seabed is something spearos should adopt as a code of practice ? You know , to show our responsible , caring side as well as the " here fishy fishy " BANG ! side .
We could collect carrier bags and dump them back in the supermarkets they came from or tie-up fishermen with discarded monofilament " see how you like it ".
Bit extreme perhaps but spearos coming ashore with a few cans and bits of plastic can only be good for our public image .

I agree devondave, I've had complements from the public before now and I reckon its good PR. I know the former director of SAS and he was telling me how they dumped plastic from the sea back on the manufacturers. He was also saying something about towing a giant turd around Guernsey a while back to protest at the untreated sewage that was being put in the sea.

Took a quick dip today after work. The incoming tide combined with the easterly has reduced the vis to a meter and a bit. However, I spooked a sizeable group of Grey Mullet that were up to something in the shallows. Got a good look and they were all legal. :friday

Well I booked flights to Plymouth for a week in May, good news - only a 35min flight, bad news - £150.

start of the week was comfortable surfing in no boots, gloves or hood... and with a few flat days tempted to check out the viz this weekend locally.

I doubt there is any chance of fish up this way yet, but may have a scout around for shell fish.

Can somebody remind me when deeperblue spearos had their first Bass on the North Cornwall and South Cornwall coasts. I have a feeling we were into April / May? Doesn't seem long since some of you put your kit away for the winter!

Thats good news Im hoping by May to be back in the water. My days now are spent drooling over new suits online and dreaming of bass.

Luckily I design websites so I can still earn some money while im invalidated.

Got in for a high tide dip at Lamorna Cove, Penwith. Vis was really good (8m), lots of wrasse about. Baby Pollack among them also. No sport fish or crabs seen despite plenty of looking. Maybe they were still further out than we were. Spent ages looking for flatties but none spotted.

Fair play Lazuli, I was thinking about getting in after checking the vis earlier in the week but the rugby won. Ended up surfing the net at the same time for a new spearsuit but got bogged down with all the options. Anyone got any recommendations? Padaxes, how's the leg and wetsuit search going?

Course theres no rush as i wont be able to get the thing on my leg for sometime yet!

I thought that Spearing was band down at Lamorna Cove?
I go there every year for the crab sandwiches when I’m down on the family holiday and have always dreamt of spearing there, but there's a bit by the parking meter that states “No Spear Fishing” or at least it was there last year.
So come on guys make with the info even if it’s by PM.

It was on the sign right at the bottom of the hill just before the shop and café.
Defiantly going to give it a go this summer, it’s just got that fishy look and feel to it, and if it feels good then it has got to be worth a swim. At the very least you can treat yourself to the most expensive Crab Sandwich that you’ll ever eat while you’re there.

TBH they are w****s down there. We didint realise we needed a ticket out of season to park there anyway long story short the private company they employ to manage it had a guy sat in his car who watche dus walk away then got out and ticketed us.

We never paid it and it turns out the operation isnt 100% legal so despite threatening us with £70 fines they never followed through. Bunch of assholes.

I have a great 5mm Camo MTM Elios and its the mutts but it took forever to arrive. I have a friend still waiting on his Spearo Elios ordered in October to come back to him fitting properly.

Go there for the suit but service seems hit and miss! Some say its good but all of my spearo buds go elsewhere now. A real shame really as i'm all for giving money to local business but they have to earn their crust.

Apnea on Jersey lead the way, anything in stock comes within two days. I have had small items next day.

Personal choice but be warned.

That'll teach me sending the other half to put the coins in!!roflDid not see any signs myself. I'll check the byelaws (maybe Dave knows the score here??). Two scuba chaps were coming out as we were going in and they did not pipe up. As it happens the gun remained slung on the float.

Something tells me the place is fishy as well. Up on the pier/wall I surveyed the water and saw a very silvery something pass around the rocks on the far side. I agree, the headland to the left looks promising.

Bloody steep parking though.
Sennen looked nice today.

I agree with Tribs on the suit front. My girlfriend uses an Apneasub open cell and its spot-on flawless. I bought my camo suit from Diveshop.gr in Athens and once it arrived in store from the manufacturer it was with me in a couple of days. There are some pretty darn good suits coming out of Greece at the moment.

As far as I can remember from diving there twenty odd years ago there are also a few canons in amongst the kelp as you go out to the headland on the left. It is prime bass territory and friends on tanks have had schoolies coming in amongst them feeding on eels kicked up by their fins, although again that was years ago!

There's something about the ban on a previous cornwall thread but they can't do anything about it once you're below the high tide mark anyway and I know that the local spearos in Newlyn who go there just enjoy ignoring them anyway.

I have a feeling the parking guys are the same dodgy lot that do Praa and at the Sennen. I was there last year watching the sunrise with the kids and someone gave me grief at 8 in the morning.

Everyone's right about the cafe -prices and all round and I 'm always amazed how people can move to /Cornwall and own/work in such a brilliant spot, put up grumpy signs and never look happy. It almost puts you off the place.

I dont normally get involved with this kind of thing, but feel I have to defend myself and my service here
Elios suits take 3-8 weeks to arrive depending on the time of year (Tribs suit took 8 weeks, but it was ordered in late May, when lead times are at their longest). They are a custom, individually made product, and well worth the wait. There is nothing I can do about the delivery time. The quality of manufacture of Elios (or any of the other Italian custom suit manufacturers) is in a totally different league to the mass produced Far Eastern suits
Tribs friend actually ordered his suit in late November, and it was delivered in early January (approx 5 weeks, not bad with Christmas in the middle). The fact that it did not fit was no fault of mine or Elios, as it was a standard size, ordered straight off the website with no advise.
I was contacted regarding it not fitting towards the end of January and immediately agreed to replace it with a made to measure. There was a gap of approx 6 weeks between the first suit being delivered and getting a set of measurements for the replacement

On a completely different note, I dived south coast on Thursday, got a bag of scallops and a plaice, but it was bloody freezing!

the reason i was annoyed is because yes the suit didnt fit me and it was my mistake but when i ordered the suit i ordered it because it has kneepads and when i rceived it it didnt all you had to say to this was that it was better not to have them and that it was a mistake on your website i wouldnt of oredered the suit in the first place.also the camo looks diferent than on the website i oredered the shadow wetsuit but it looks more like the venom also that onedoesnt come with kneepads.
but when i sent the wetsuit back to you with the measurements you waited a 3weeks to get an email to me to check some of the measurements afta i checked them for you and and sent an email back i couldnt get hold of you for two weeks neither by phone or email i was ringing at least everyday for a week aswell but nothing so that is why i am disapointed with your service dunno why it tok you so long untill you wanted me to check some measurements and why i couldnt contact me or why you wouldnt reply to my email.

also are you still expecting me to pay this £30 seems it doesnt have to kneepads which is your MISTAKE i dont think i should have to i wouldnt have bought the suit without them .

My current Elios suit was from Spearo Dave, I found the suit and service excellent....I can't quote for others, but this is the second made to measure suit from Dave, and I'll be going to back to him next year when this one has worn through.

It took about 8 weeks, but I knew this was going to happen as I had spoken to Dave about it...it was worth the wait.

I have had quite a bit of kit from Dave over the years and in the unlikely event of any faulty kit he has always sorted me out very quickly.

On another note: if you've seen the Dorset threat you'd have seen the two nice Bass I got on Saturday......still piggin cold though!
