Cornwall 2009

I bought 3 sets of lithiums from ebay . I got 2 dives and just over an hour of video out 1 set so far

I dry tested a set and got 2.5 hours of video out of them until they packed up.

they say to use lithiums in colderr water, Last year I used rechargables and they perform better in warmer water.

My housing leaked last week seems like a lot of people have the same problem

Now I soak the housing in fresh water when I get home and then again before I leave the house to go dive and now it doesnt leak.

I just soaked the housing for half an hour in my water butt outside and it seems fine! I will try again minus the camera next time to see what happens.

I did leave the camera on standby the whole time i was in the water (about an hour) and got a total of 7 mins film and that still shot. I will see what happens.

I've got the Energizer Lithiums in my GP5. They work well, and had three trips out of one set. That included turning the camera on and off many times. Bloody expensive though. No leaks today! :)

You can borrow it Scott if you want. Amazing feeling having a fish going metal on the end!

Go for it on the tape, use what you want then i'll do my other kit.

PS Got some ICE fins from Venture sports and they rock!!!!!!!!!

Nice one Tribs I'll be up for loaning the pole spear sounds like a great laugh.

Yeah must hook up mate,I dont really dive that spot much anymore but I'll be up for a revisit.

Very nice choice in fins mate, my second pair of fins I bought were gara 3000's and they still going strong, this will be there 3rd season but if I break em then I reckon I'll be going for the Ice.

Good thing about the ice fins is that they smell as good as they perform.I think they've changed the fixings now but the old one's had a habit of snapping across the screw holes.Try to avoid any push offs on the blade.I had two snap even with being aware of,and refraining from, pushing off on them, they were replaced both times free of charge though.

I am always going to use them now. I do suffer from ear problems but the last time i went in the water spearing my inside ear was dry. Equalization (is that spelt right??) was not a problem either. Be sure to get the vented ones though or you will have problems.

Alot of the surf shops sell them and it is easy to get them online although you get to try some for a good fit from the shop!

The south devon thread is showing a few catches this week. Anything at the south coast cornish spots further west? Planning next week, and deciding if its Cornwall, or if to head into south devon instead.

Nothing for me yet but only been in once. I am hoping for this weekend, if the weather holds out, to get out on my kayak. If the bass are in cornish waters they will be out there!!

Hello all,

I'm off to Marazion for a week in mid-April. Can anyone recommend some good spots to go spearing around there?

I'll obviously return the favour for people heading in the Dorset direction (and the Plymouth direction too, although I don't know that area quite so well).

Well,my gear has all turned up,i've serviced all my stuff and i'm aching to get in there.Think i'll try and get in on the south coast tomorrow since it looks like it'll be NE'erly.Had a little look over at Trevellas today but there was just a little bit too much swell mixing it up a bit.Dog had a good swim though.

Ps Gave the ice a proper work out and they are supple when needing to be but hit the turbo legs button and way hey!!!! POWER!!!!!!!!!
