It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I can highly recommend the Cressi star sl70. Only the length of about a 60cm band gun but just as powerful as my Cressi Comanche 90. It's the only gun I ever use these days.

My last days of holidays...

Hey guys i'm new to the forum and thought i would say a quick hello!

I live down in St Just near Penzance, and am looking for fellow spearing enthusiasts to go out with and keep it a bit more social. If anyone is around and fancies it then by all means please get in touch.

I'm by no means a spearing god, but have been out plenty of times with not much to show apart from a few Grey mullet and plenty of Pollock - but its all great fun and even better great eating! I'm looking to improve my technique and ability to identify the fish i want if anyone has any tips or advice?

Thanks

Rich

Good Morning All.
Extremely slim chance, but here goes:

I was body boarding with my family yesterday at Mawgan Porth, with my go pro on a head strap mount.

All was going well, hopefully got some great footage of the kids enjoying there first experiences of body boarding.

Unfortunately whilst swimming back in to one of them the surf managed rip the camera and srrap from my head.

Should any of you happen to come across a Go Pro on a head strap during your adventures I'd be more than appreciative of its return.

Happy Spearing

Unbelievably my Go Pro was found washed ashore late this morning, and Ive now been reunited. Some interesting footage so far.

Got about an hour and fifteen minutes of the camera being tossed about underwater. Will edit the better parts together and post a link to You tube once I'm home.

Thank you SnS...
By the way...: meckerels are a very difficult hunt. They swim so fast... I tried to shoot one swimming upon me but failed and risked to be shot myself by the falling arrow...:blackeye

Went in yesterday at a sheltered spot near Falmouth vis was gin clear in the shallows. Had a great time look at all the life close in and trying to get used to my new suit definitely need more weight, I was struggling to stay down in 4m.

I was swimming over some string weed think this looks like a good spot when out popped a bass! My thought process is still a bit slow.. Right fish, right size, shot was ok. Slowly aimed the gun and squeezed the trigger. Yep completely missed! Been replaying the shot all night went in front and above the fish. Didn't see another bass.. I'm just starting out it was my first shot at a bass so I'm not to worried about missing it. It's made me more determined to get one this season!

Did see a John Dory but didn't know the minimum size for them but I'm pretty sure this one was under size. Lovely looking fish though swam with it for a while. Other than that lots of wrasse and small pollock about.

Will try to get back in this afternoon.

Quick report from saturdays foray. Had a family day on the beach enjoying the final throws of summer. My mate and I both took our inflatables with us to play around with. After playing with the kids we got the green light to disappear round the corner for a few hours, me with my speargun and my mate with rod and line. He dropped me off at a new mark and I was greeted with 15+m of viz, one of those rare days where you could justify a cannon of a gun! It was nice to find some larger pollock and dive some deeper water than I normally would. Finished the day with two nice bass, a PB pollack and a nice mullet. Biggest bass was in the region of 5-6 lbs

Wow not a lot of activity on this page....hope this isn't a bad sign.....

I have this coming weekend free and was hoping to come down and raid the Cornish waters. I have a few spots on the Lizard which I really enjoy diving and are usually quite productive and hoping to visit these this weekend. Looking at the forecast the wind is staying predominantly from the north which is ok for these spots but the swell is picking up on Saturday morning......It'd be great if anyone could give me a heads up on what the dive conditions have been like down that way recently and if the vis is likely to hold for a dive this weekend so as not to waste a 3 hour drive!!

Cheers

Nick
