Been a while but thought I'd post a report from my second dive of the year. Recently relocated a little further East and this was from a new spot I'd never fished but surfed a few times. Slight swell, patchy algae bloom and visibility around 2-3m so not pretty but ideal for keeping a low profile. Fish went 64cm and 58cm.

Good job! How far east we talking?

I'm getting in before high tomorrow near the border so hopefully I can sink a few bigguns like you have here!

Hi all. I'm heading over to perranporth from dorset today and have my kit with me. Can anyone point me in a decent general direction of somewhere to go around there (no secret spots obviously). Cheers, Woody

Cheers. Was beginning to fear we were in for a summer of unfishable vis, like the Channel Island boys a number of years ago, considering the winter we had.

Let's just say the flag's still black and white but the crowds are considerably thinner in all respects.

Jumped in a couple of spots in Cornwall whilst on holiday with the family. I am jealous! It's 100000% better than Sussex for diving. Visibility was 10m on one dive and about 5-8m on the other. As a bonus I had a seal come and swim by me at one point which was awesome. I was surprised at just how large they are! Saw a shoal of mullet, surprisingly at roughly the same area as the seal...wonder how many he got? Picked up a couple of spiders to show people on the beach (not large enough to take back with me) and then dutifully returned them to their spots again. I have a feeling I might have to retire down Cornwall way!

This guy was taken in about 7m and went 3lb 4oz and 58cm long. Hard work as fish seem very skittish and if you cant find the bait balls it's quiet.

Here's a vid from Friday night of some of the north coast dolphin population off Holywell Bay. Unfortunately could only use my iphone as left the decent camera at home on this boat dive. Managed a quick dive with them just inside of Carters Rocks and it was really great to see......alongside a massive lightning storm that erupted suddenly turning the water electric purple.

Nice vid! Going out in the yak tomorrow so hopefully the whole pod will spend today legging it round to the south coast!

There seem to be a resident population on both coasts...a south coast pod were kicking about near Falmouth fairly recently.

Nice fatty north coaster early this morning. Vis not great on the high before sunrise.

Good job! Been seeing bits and bobs in places but no finite answers, how does tide affect vis? (And wind)

This year we are still dealing with the effects of that wild winter. The higher tides, even with small swell and weak wind is easily disturbing the sediment again. There seems to be a milky vis even in a usually clear north Cornwall this year. Still...it allows you to get up close to the bigger bass on the feed.

Hi folks, not posted on here in many a year (but have been reading about your adventures from afar - like some kind of spearfishing stalker pervert)...

Managed to get in at my local spot the other day (first dive of the year) only to find a completely different landscape under the water - most of the weed has been ripped away by the winter storms and the rocks now covered by sand. Anybody else experiencing similar situations? Not a very productive session as a result - saw two small flatties and a weaver. Still, good to get in...

Got in early before work this morning on the north coast. Perfect conditions and got in the water at around 5am. Vis was 6m or thereabouts. Managed a bass from low in the kelp straight away and then spotted a decent lobster but without a net bag it would have meant swimming it to shore and cutting the dive short. Continued for bass and drew in some good shoals of mixed bass and mullet but kept thinking about the lobster. Decided to swim back to the gulley and have a look on the off chance. Rather surprisingly there was an even larger lobster there so I grabbed it and called it a day. Home by 7am and in work early! Pb lobster for me by a long shot and it's currently in the pot after languishing in the fridge all day.

3rd Annual Member Meet in the UK will be held in Guernsey (Channel Islands) again between 8th – 10th
We still have room for a few more members to join in the fun.
The spearfishing competition entry is full as we limit the number to 20 divers, however there are still opportunity's to free dive with Apneaboy who will be running a two day freediving course.
Of course you can just come on over & join in the evening entertainment, go you own way spearfishing around our coast & still have time to watch the daily weigh ins !
Come on over and dive our legendary waters where so many British records have been caught... both diving or fishing... you will be welcome.
