Thanks Podge.

Merry Christmas to you all from me too. I'm already looking forward to some summer weather once again. Have a fish filled 2012, hope to see some of you in the sea! Now where is Father Christmas....

Happy Xmas everyone. Hope it's a good one from me. And hopefully see you in the water in the new year

Had an early one at 6:30am today with nobby and Tom. Torches out and off we all went flatly hunting. No flatties seen. So decided to move off the sand, It was dark and I decided to swim under a large concrete structure in just a few feet of water, then the torch caught a large silver fish, which at first guessed it was a bass. I swam closer to the fish with my torch directly on it, then took a shot just 2 ft from the fish in just 2 ft of water; a nice mullet of well over 4lb. So they're still out there guys!

Rubbish, I don't believe it and I was there. Lee brought that mullet out with him and stuck it on the end of his spear and then held it up. It had clearly been dead a long time. It was even gutted and I could clearly see slices of lemon and fennel sticking out of the cavity. Oldest trick in the book :naughty

I was in the water just over two hours from 06.30 - 08.45 and didn't see a single fish. No actually that's not strictly true - I did see a couple of small pollack, 2 prawns, and a dead dogfish being eaten by crabs. Didn't see any flounder, which surprised me a little as we were in a spot where I took lots of flounders in October and November. Ah well, there's always next time...

Yeah nice one Lee. I'm not jealous. Not even a tiny bit...

...:waterwork:waterwork:waterwork

Just ate it Tom. Bird eye chillies, chorizo, cubed pork belly and mullet, added onions garlic, salt and pepper, some rice and a touch of turmeric and ginger. Stuffed now mate.

I've pretty much decided to go all year round too. I'll give you guys a call in a few days.

Nice one lee. We went out earlier around castle cove looking for flatties, unfortunately saw nothing but crabs.

That's a shame mate, very surprised that none of us saw any flatfish?? The mullet was the only fish I saw bar a few small pollack and the usual wrasse.

Give us a shout mate if you want tag along on some ice dives.

Brilliant cheers bud. I will join you as I plan on diving all year aswel. Probs be in the new year tho as I'm a bit tied until then

I second that, it's always good to meet other spearos and have more potential dive buddies. Particularly when mine is hogging all the bloody mullet. ;)

Anybody have any clues about why we haven't been seeing any flatties? I was under the impression that winter was the best time for flatfish, but I haven't seen any since mid November.
