sory tom i didn't realise that u had put a post up. me saying anyway was a follow on to my post. how come you never tryed east side? wind has stayed that way all week so it prob would have been ok.

No worries mate. Didn't try East side as there was a big swell coming in which would have been pretty unpleasant there (or at least so I thought). Also, I thought I'd call it quits early on, get home and earn myself some brownie points so I can give it another go either Sunday or Wednesday :t

Once in we hit the torches and started diving to 20 c METERS, lots of small mullet, some pollack and silver eels seen, and I nailed a nice little bass.

Got in at our usual spot in the harbour at about 6am. Pretty unpleasant with waves crashing around my head and a 30mph+ wind blowing across the water. There was reasonable vis (3-4m) and the water wasn't too cold.
Saw one flounder but no silver fish. Oh no, hang on, I saw two mullet. The bigger of the two was around 3in long. Needless to say I simply ate them whole
On my way out I dropped my Xtar D01 torch, so if anybody finds one in the Portland Harbour area, please drop me a message. Ta.
Never mind mate, respect for getting wet in those condition and that early. Not sure how many more dives I'll be doing. (I keep saying that!)
I have a Judo comp next with my daughter in S. Devon; Kingsbridge to be precise, so will no doubt be dropping in at Hallsands with SW offshore winds!

sorry mate it is a concept suit so i wont be making anymore of them them. its a matter of respect to my old boss. get on with them and i still have a good friendship with them. they can do the same for you no problem but i myself wont be doing any. sorry bud
the black parts are the same thickness , the elbows r harder wairing parts. the main reason is to break up the camo as well as syleing. it would look rubbish in full camo. trust me i have tryed that. also i have done it so i dont rip off anyother companys suit as it has my old works logo so they could be liable for copying. oh tell a lie!! the wrists are 5mm also the skirt around the hood. comfort and better seal as they are glide skin as appose to open cell. stops flushing even more. (belt and braces so to speak)
It's probably not that at all - apart from the fact the most productive spots are never given away!
You are diving on a Thursday at 10am - a lot of us work and it is getting to the time of year that no one but the mad, cold loving hardcore Spearo's are still at it!

Spot on Ryan. I would show you around but I'll be at work tomorrow and I'm away on Friday. There are still some bass around, so have a good dive and hopefully you'll be returning home with a tasty dinner

Don't worry too much about "hot spots". There are fish all around the coast. Most/all locations get some fish sometimes. So just find somewhere that you think looks interesting/promising or that you just fancy exploring and go take a look. Some rod anglers love fishing in the warm water outlets of nuclear power stations, which apparently attract fish - but that wouldn't "float my boat".
At one popular/busy but otherwise ordinary stretch of Devon beach, I saw 2 mullet swim right against the legs of an unsuspecting holidaymaker, who was paddling in shallow water. I used to avoid one particularly featureless and "unfishy"-looking stretch of beach in Dorset, only to discover later that, underwater, there are all kinds of hidden features (large boulders, weed beds, etc.) and sea life there.
The exploration is much of the fun & interest. Also remember that fish come and go. I've dived one well known spot in Dorset maybe 6 or 7 times (never again!). The first time it was very fishy, with numerous good bass (I got two). But on subsequent visits I have seen little or nothing. But I know at least one other spearo had two good fish there this year - so its not that fish don't go there anymore. I went for an unusually late dive (5 or 6pm) on holiday this year at a spot where I liek to dive (interesting terrain) and have on several occasions caught bass in the past; I expected nothing but this time it was teaming with very large mullet (and no bass in sight)...a v. pleasant surprise. Just as likely there could have been no fish there.

sorry guys for my last post i don't want to make you upset.ok went to dorset first i tried ringstead no wind but a big waves no wis at all .then tried castletown near scuba diving shop wis was better around 2m see some wreks but no bass or other whit fish.then afther that tried Inn Ferry Bridge i think it calls like that there was not so deep around 2m wis around 2m no fish seen.after that tried Newton's Road chapelhay wis was very bad less then half meter. no luck this time.lol
