Looking at booking a freedive course, not sure whether to book aida 1 or aida 1 and 2, any thoughts or recommendations on this?

If you have done any diving before then definitely do 1 & 2. Takes place over weekend, relatively relaxed and saves making the trip twice. I did a course with Ian at freediveuk and found it really useful. Lots of good tips, felt much safer afterwards

I would go for the 1 and 2 in one hit , if you have done a bit of spearing etc the 2 would be great . I am hopefully doing 4 with Ian this year all going well but finance this year very tight. Give Ian a call he is a fab instructor and a has a strong interest in spearing. You will regret doing just the 1 as the 2 takes you that little bit further well worth it. I did my 1 and 2 with Emma at Vobster which was a very good course.

Thanks for the advice guys, think I will book it now.

They sure will and they will probably make you loose some weight as well ( thats off your weight belt :) ). Makes you very aware of the dangers with breath hold and the reason for recover times etc . Will be well worth the money and will improve your diving

I also did a AIDA course a couple of years ago. I completely agree, it really improved my diving and made things a lot safer in the water, not only for me but the guys I dive with.

A last minute change of plans at work meant I had the chance to get in the sea this morning. Can't believe how late my first dive of the year was this year!
I was desperate to try out a new camera lens so headed for a sea slug hotspot instead of a fish hotspot.
Vis is up to 3m in the harbour although water temp is still 7 degrees. Saw one small flounder that has been left to grow.
Going to take a while to master focussing on the new lens but there were plenty of things to try it out on.

Just came back from a solo night dive. Decided upon a venue that can produce a mixed bag. Saw lots of marine life which was good, shrimps, crabs, jumbo smelt and lots of very small but very thick flounders an plaice. Saw a hand sized brill aswel. Went hunting for silvers (none seen) at first and then went into flattie mode on the return swim.

Came home with a small but fat flounder and matching plaice for the pot. Vis was around 2m but quite milky and water averaging 7°C. Overall a pleasant dive. The biggest shock was getting used to long carbon fins after using my short rubber Octopush fins for quite a while.

Know where your coming from 4.30 best on sofa normal 3.15 get in the cold seas with kit on 20 seconds !What is it adenalyn ?

Hi m8 you need to do first!1 walking apnea and two2 pranayama yoga( stretching chest and deep breathing) ANd when you are trying to breath IN -as much as you can, your body is getting to much air(high pressure) your body is getting stress. So you need to teach your body to feel better with high air presure in your lungs. Then you be fish in the sea with no stress:)
And don't push your body to far and to fast some thing it takes time to learn.

Thanks for that I'm working on it now got an app down loaded .there isn't an explanation of what to do and how to proceed .i can tell it takes 30 min or so to get in to a breathing rythem.its the apnea trainer app

Denian, another good app to accompany apnea trainer is iholdbreath. Iholdbreath has really good logs to record your training plus you can personalise your tables, both have helped me prepare for fishing in the past.
