Was good mate tbh was only 6 of us last week as a few didn't turn up. There have been a few others saying more are going to turn up next week so could be a busy one. Debating wether to just wear my suit there save the crammed changing room haha.

Could be worse could be riding along with a loaded spear gun like a motorised jouster ha. Yeah not to bad mate ate a bit before I went so was shocking last week but hit over 2mins a far few times now tho

We've had some stiff wind for a couple of days, yet the swanage webcam looks fair this morning. What's going on? I know its protected threre but still expected to find dishwater. Is it worth a dip anywhere sheltered from the SW wind next day or two?

Swanage cam....aka the cam a deception! reports are 2m milky. I was in the area yesterday AM vis was 1-2m but opened up to 3m after a very long swim.

You swam to Cornwall? Already made plans for a dip Sunday eve. Looks like we'll be hugging the shallows for a mullet then, will send my buddy on a long swim for viz!

back from cornwall on monday eve..yesterday I was in the swanage poole area. later I will be in southhams tomorrow at portland.

Ba****d, I struggle to get in once in 3/4 weeks. Must buy a torch methinks.

That's why I end up doing nights...family commitments and work. so it's a case of jump in during the day when I'm lucky enough and make do without the aid of day light all other times

I think that'll have to be the way forward. 'Needs must when the devil drives' or something. I take it the xtar d06 is fit for purpose plus a battery or two. A light on your float for stringing fish, or no need?

It depends on where you fish but I have a light on my float to let other boat users know where I am - it's proven worthwhile on more than one occasion.

A light on the float is a must I would say as you can keep an eye on each other if you drift too far, plus what Kuya alluded to. I also have some light reflective tape that shows up great when you shine a torch upon it.
I also have a torch strapped to my goggles to flick on when despatching the fish, as the torch in the mitt can be blinding a little, plus I have hands free & not juggling between torch, fish & knife.

Thanks guys, so decent setup would be xtar d06, a smaller mask mounted light,reflective tape on float flag and end of snorkel. Took a dip on the purbecks this afternoon. Viz at high water was reasonable at 3-4m, increasing to 5 in areas at depth, but went to s*** on the ebb. Hoards of sand smelt and sand eels, and small wrasse. A fair number of pollack shoals, mostly small, increasing in size further towards a headland, but the ebbing tide made it a challenge to hang around in the right area. Anyway nice to get in, my buddies came away with a mixed bag, I left empty handed after missing a fat mullet from nearly point blank. DOH!!!!!

That's my setup exactly - D06 in hand and a smaller mask-mounted torch for hands-free loading and stringing.
Went for a swim this afternoon at Burton Bradstock without a suit - was in for a good 20 minutes without getting cold. Lovely.

Got in at Mupe again today 0m vis at lulworth but had 5m around the rocks. Getting really frustrated with that place! Its easily the most fun place to dive that I know of with the wide variety of caves, gullies and rocks coming out of the water but it just doesn't seem to hold fish! Spent an entire day and a half the're an spotted 3 silvers in that time (got one and the other two were out of range)! Such a shame as I really enjoy the underwater scenery there!

I take it that's zero viz at lulworth cove and 5m at mupe rocks, but almost nothing seen. Really fancy mupe, but I'm not sure now reading on the lack of fish. Unless that's a red herring.
