Dorset spearfishing 2014

Looking to get started and live in Dorchester. I did a bit of freediving on holiday, enjoyed it a lot. Would like to try it with a speargun now. How do you guys find buddies? Do I need any qualifications? Thanks in advance.
 
no qualifications needed and plenty of locals spearos are around on the forum for help! Check the equipment threads and make sure you get some good starter gear and then your be able to just hop in the sea anytime!
 
i haven't been out this year yet but hoping to go in the next few weeks just waiting for one of my buddies to get a warmer wetsuit. i personally like worth matravers, its a bit of a trek from the car park but once you get down there its easy to get in get out and no problem with sand! make sure you do your research on any equipment before you buy!
 
Thanks, it's cool to know. Hopefully I'll be driving by the 7th next month. I'll aim to get kitted up by then.

Just ordered a few new goodies ready to get back out there! itching like mad for some nice days and some great vis! and a couple fish wouldn't go amiss either!

Well...I heard a rumour that they love the picking off the new 'failed' surf reef in bournmouth everyone should just head there...

The Swanage web cam shows the vis may be ok. Settled weather for the next few days. May have to get in soon.
