Lol Gordon ramsey spearfishing. Still at least he was promoting the sustainability of spearfishing. I going to try the light house this year. It looks good.

I wouldn't bother with warbarrow ......twice now I've dived it and both time the resident mako shark has given my buddy and I a scare; he's very territorial abd a big ol boy at around 9-10ft.
as for vis...lyme bay has a cam, so does swanage, chesil and weymouth. Big spring tides often hamper the vis, especially on the ebbing tide. the western end of chesil is particularly vulnerable to dragging tides due to the clay and sand mix. Ringstead usualy clears up after 5-7 days of wind from the North quadrant and neap tides. weymouth bay has shelter in SW gales, so does portland harbour and swanage. be aware that swanage is full of funny buggers that blow bubbles and prohibit you from 50m of the pier, this is also true for the outer arms of portland harbour and the docks area. Kimmeridge bay is a voluntary marine reserve and thus the tree huggers will shive your spear up your bum if you attempt to spearfish here.
tbh the most reliable place for vis is portland harbour, but it realy is crap.

I didnt want to read that!! will be looking over my shoulder now when diving there!!

Hello to everyone. I live in Weymouth and have been out a few times around Portland ... apparently this is not a great thing to do alone so I'd like to hook up with some others if possible. Let me know when you're going out and I'd appreciate being able to tag along

Nice little vid but the 'truth' is already on the forum as several members were involved in the filming!
what???? are you suggesting that he may not have speared any fish himself? ;) ;)

do you mean durdle door? ( lulworth ) if so the vis is terrible there these days after the cliffs fell in the sea, last time i went down there it was like milk it was so bad! Its a super chaim because i loved that place, went there 3 times a week free diving years ago!

im looking to get a new suit at some point, was thinking mares instinct camo, are the picasso suits any good then? was thinking 5mm

'season' ??? seasons are for girls and part timers....get yourselves a proper job Picasso wetsuit and stay in all year round.

haha you're right mate.. sorry. Ive got a 7mm picasso jacket ready for when it clears.. chesil is still flat

Fobode

I have used the mares camo for the last 3 years mate. Served me well but finally up for replacement. I have bought the same suit but in black, personally I think if you can lie motionless in the water, it doesn't really matter what colour the suit is! Wonder if I will eat my words!!
I have watched hundreds of you tube clips especially bass clips from the Shiny, Kev Daly, Dario and others from across europe and the main thing they have in common, is they stay motionless, calm and good breath hold.
I'm sure the Picasso suit is top quality but I bought the mares for £124 from scubastore, Spain. Excellent customer service and delivered for £7. The only thing I have slight reservations about is the knee padding, but they have taken a pounding from rocks etc, my weight and like I said lasted 3 years. You have to make sure the suit is well lubed up as it will rip very easily but that's the same for similar suits. Mates have bought made to measure suits from America but I find the mares suits me.
Anyway enough said.
Think we are all desperate to get in, like spearolee said dive all year round.

well....my dive buddy has buggered off to florida to escape the UK jaws that is Lydia. but I'm going for a solo night dive tonight. I wouldn't recommend solo night diving to anyone, so please don't attempt it. my dives are almost exclusively at night and I dive on avarage 2-3x weekly throughout the year and thus competent and saftey conscious to dive alone. will be heading to the western end of chesil...give me a shout if anyone experienced wants to join me for some man love in rubber suits.

Yes it is lulworth . If tides moving to the right you will get clear water very good viz. If tides moving to the left will be very milky water. but then you have to swim on the left side half mile then you will reach fosil forest is amazing place to dive and spearing mate.
I hope i will see you there;)
