Hey guys, glad to formally join your ranks. I have been a fly on the wall this summer trying to get this sport figured out with Scott (ie. Whopperhead) this year. Like he said in an early posting we have conflicting work schedules so I don't get out as much as I should. I haven't kept count of my carp this year but my biggest was around 23 pounds that Scott helped me wrestle to the surface. Definately not in the running this year but I am signing to pm shift so I will have no excuse next year. You can hold me to it.

Looking forward to meeting you all in the lakes.

Gene - I went in at the south west boat launch - Vis varied from 5 - 15 feet depending on how far out you went- Will definately go there again!

TASS- Welcome to Deeperblue! As you know this is a Great Site! And yes - you have no chance in this years contest rofl. I believe your count to be 5 carp and 3 suckers though- seeing how I was there.

Come Monday - Fish are going to die :martial

Yesturdays dive in Lake Geseesee or what ever it's called wasn't completely a skunker - I did manage to pull out a metal minnow net thing. Hey- I do what I can ;)

Today at SSYC I got 1 more carp and 3 Gizzard Shad. This brings my total to 24 carp, 7 suckers , 3 Gizzard Shad, 1 gar, and a Freshwater Drum for a total of 36 ROUGH FISH :martial

Scott,

Nice carp!

Friday, I went to White Lake in Waupaca county, nothing. Then went to Minor Lake in the Waupaca Chain of lakes...vis was pretty good. 12' - 15'. Saw lots of pan fish, but no rough fish...so zip, zero, ziltch to add to my total. You are still the raining spearo champion of Wisconsin! The season is far from over yet.:)

Gene - I was thinking about that power plant the other day - with the water being as cold as it was (46.8 degrees) - and Clear - I thought "Man! I bet Gene is at the Power Plant right now - Slaying em" But I figured you wouldn't try it by yourself- I may be trying to go to Green Lake again on Friday- I'll have to watch the weather.

Sounds good, let me know how you do. Green Lake is where Bobby (my son) & I have consistantly seen more carp than anywhere else. The vis is not always the best. Bobby & I were there this Spring, & the vis was around 15'. We had schools of carp around us. As we took one off the spear, or reloaded after a miss, they would still be swimming around you!

I hope this fall, things clear up a bit & I can get out and fill up my pick-up...wouldn't that be a pretty picture. :) Now, what is your address again? I bet you would appreciate a nice load of fresh carp in your front lawn! rofl

Bring on the clear water!

I definately want to try the power plant...but alas, duck hunting takes precidence this weekend (Dad, 3 sons & daughter-in-law...still working on Jan)...along with the Octoberfest youth fundraiser in Appleton...stop by for a tiger paw if you'd like.

Well, There I was, at about 15' The dogfish was staring me down. With this evil look he smiled at me. I took the safety off my speargun and took aim. IT was a face off! He took off for me! Place a shot Right into his head. That adds one more rough fish to my count. And The waters are a little bit safer.
:ko

This brings my total to 24 carp, 7 suckers , 3 Gizzard Shad, 1 gar, 1 DOGFISH, and a Freshwater Drum for a total of 37 ROUGH FISH :martial

wow im off for about a month and the whole site goes downhill... just kidding. those are MASSIVE carp. very nice bgill. whopperhead. you have the habit of finding the rare and unusual. in all of my years of catching fish in various manners i have taken one dogfish, bowfishing. hit it. took the nasty thing out, thought it looked wicked, clubbed it over the head, and threw it on shore. good job keeping me bewildered.

Fleshy....Glad to see your back...I thought I scared you away! :t

Add 2 more to my record! Ended up shooting 2 more carp- one being the Biggest one I've shot so far 29# 1oz. I think if it were sunny and a little bit clearer- I would of had more. But I still had fun!:friday

This brings my total to 26 carp, 7 suckers , 3 Gizzard Shad, 1 gar, 1 DOGFISH, and a Freshwater Drum for a total of 39 ROUGH FISH :martial

bgill... you might scare fish. but you dont scare me. im an offensive linemen for the #1 ranked football program in the state (highschool). spash go and check it out. no as you might know most of my spearing was done in spring lakes, and were into turnover now... so i have reluctantly not been spearing for awhile...

Well, I finally got back in the water today! Even if it was only for 1 hour. I went to Green Lake off Horner's Landing (SE side).

Vis was not the best...still a lot of junk in the water that the sun reflected off. When one was in direct light, you could only see 5', but when you went into the shade, you could see 15' at times...not very often. Was still great to be out...saw a 2 northern, had a school of about 30 large mouth bass following me (8" - 10"), hundreds of perch (all small).

I saw 8 Carp, shot at 3, and got 1 (was the first one...in the first 5 minutes!). Also pulled out 1 beer can

Total Rough Fish for year = 2 Suckers, 17 Carp = 19 Rough Fish

Garbage = 3 cans

Good Job Ping! is that your boat in the background? or did you just dive in from shore?

I just went from shore...I went to the right off of Horner's landing. I was at a boat launch when taking the photo. Someone who always wanted to try Spearfishing was there & checked it out...I told him about DeeperBlue...hopefully he checks it out. Very nice guy. Would be great to have someone on the lake to tell us when the conditions are the best.

So far, Green Lake has been the most consistant for me as far as carp are concerned. Hopefully, the lake will calm down before 11/3 & the visibility will be good. I was there in the Early Summer, & we could see 15' - 20'...was awsome.

Gene

Ok - I went to Green Lake to find a good spot for the Carp fest- i think I may have found it- I went to the far southwest boat launch on K by the bridge and the conditions sucked! The wind was coming out of the North West. I looked at my map and saw there is no boat launch on the north west of the Lake- SO I just drove around the north west end until I found this Beach/canoe access spot- Then after swimming around for an hour or two I found these giant weed beds and BEHOLD! CARP! Vis was about 10' and the water temp was 54 degrees I probably shot at 7 carp and Got 5. 1 was a clean miss and 1 pulled off. One spot that was the best was loaded with All kinds of fish. Huge Bluegills, Huge PERCH, some Big Bass- And I saw about a 4' Muskie- Pretty cool! Until I had to swim back- I was probably a mile away from where I started. :blackeye

In all I think I probably SAW 40 Carp.

This brings my total to 31 carp, 7 suckers , 3 Gizzard Shad, 1 gar, 1 DOGFISH, and a Freshwater Drum for a total of 44 ROUGH FISH :martial
