Rapid descent and not being good and warmed up for a 75' dive might have had something to do with it.., If I remember correctly you said it was a very fast dive. I don't think we'll know what really happened. I've had the same thing happen to me, and many others have too.. but in my case I only felt congested/raspy voice and coughed blood for an hour or so. and then was fine.

That reminds me…. Need to get a low volume mask, and chuck this old, low profile, scuba mask.
Sorry about taking over this nice thread for a personal dark note. I think the only things that you mentioned that stand out about that fateful dive are I only made two dives prior, one to 17’ and one to 57’ then dropped to 73’, so not much warm up. I packed, but not a lot, or more than before or since. Thought it was a quick dive, but according to the watch, 30’ in :4, 42’ in 10:, 60 in :20, 73 in :24. I just checked a recent 75’ dive . 32’ in : 2, 54 in :10, 75’ in :18, so I don’t think rapid descent was the cause. Equalizing was easy, little or no squeaking. May have been careless in filling my big mask and I know I exhaled lower than I should have on the way back up, better than usual vis. fooled me, and did little warm up, so I’m thinking that is the culprit. I had no pain just conjestion.?
Thanks for the help.
OK, back to the subject. Did you see Jon is talking about Wazee in late fall? 10/8-11, 10/22-24, work for me. (after I check with my wife) Should have my new fins by then, so won’t have to borrow yours anymore.
