You'll get used to putting the suit on mate, key I find is to put your head right in first then raise the bottom of the top up to slide your arms in. As Ben said, its GOT to be lubricated!

Great work with the bass, is that your first one? Good of you to give it a chance by leaving you tip cover in place!

A lot of people recommend hair conditioner for lubing the suit, a good dollop in one of those big plastic drinks bottles, applied liberally, especially on the top. It's also good to have it nice and hot when it gets cold! The cheapest I've found is at Boots - own brand is about 30p. Or you could risk pinching the wife's Garnier salon whatever, if you also want to sort out those split ends! I hadn't seen this forum when I got my Imersion suit, and tried to struggle into it without lubricating, and ended up tearing the top slightly. Apnea in Jersey were very helpful though.

Well done John. PM me if you need more lead. Haven't forgotten about the bullet weights, just a bit busy at the moment. Have plenty more H weights though.

Thanks Dave, I didn't want to hassle you about the bullets as there's no rush anyway. I'll be in again tonite with a few extra kg's and just see how it goes.

Conditioner is more a summer type lube... this time of year I tend to move over to bacon lard/drippings and later still after the Christmas period goose fat is a known and trusted lube - great with a 7mm Elios.
I swear by crunchy peanut butter or beaded Swarfega. I find the goose fat compromises my grip on the gun....

Judging by the temperature outside this morning, the lard might be a good idea - plus a flask of hot water to add to the lube! Antibacterial is a good idea Foxy - I hadn't thought of that. Reminds me my suit could do with a proper wash, with the accumulation of lube, bodily fluids etc over the season. I think a soak in warm soapy water might be a good idea. I'm unlikely to go in this weekend, as I'm helping at a school fair today:headand ferrying kids to hockey etc and picking up the wife at the airport tomorrow morning:vangry - anyway low springs probably not ideal. Nice to see there are some bass around though - Jonny would you like to give us a detailed report of your dive ( without giving location away of course!) ?
(p.s. just saw there are torches like this available at 7 Day shop: 7dayshop.com - Online Store could be useful as an additional torch strapped to mask? You order online and can pick up if in Guernsey.

Whats wrong with a spring low tide for bass? Thats my preferred type. I'd say 33quid for a mask torch was a bit OTT IMHO FWIW.

I have heard others say they're more easily spooked on a spring, and if you're hunting in the weed, they're less likely to be in it as it lays over in the tide. But what do I know, I've only caught a few so far ...
They did also have a cheaper waterproof torch, but I haven't checked out the difference - so might not be so OTT IMVHO BWDIK

I was in my boat this morning in the town harbour and the vis looked fantastic. Hard to believe after all the weather we've had but today could be a good day to get wet. Flat calm at the moment but forcast is not looking good. Think family comitments are gonna stop me going but conditions like this should not be missed.

Water is Crystal clear NE coast. I was dangling to the lace and could clearly make out the bottom from 6ft above the surface in 15ft+ of water. Sure I spotted a flatty but didn't have the spear ... Lots and LOTS of roselet about but didn't see them panic or do anything to suggest larger fish being present, the just cruised about and ate my shirvy.
