Hi Antony.

Sounds promising. May i be so cheeky as to ask where abouts you went. north/south/east/west.

Lookign to go in after work. not ideal tides but weather like this i can't resist, it'll be nice for a splash about.

Hey guys another newbie, just been out this evening with gsyrider. Was in the shallows and saw loads of mullet and several bass, they werent huge but big enough to take back. To get big bass, how deep should I be going?
Happy Hunting.
Jeffers

Welcome on board Jeffers, you can catch bass in 1/2mtr to 30mtr or deeper if you are super human. Sounds like you are on the right track if you are seeing fish anyway.
Well done Tony, we like pics if you have any?

Is there anymore to say on the jollyboys weekend? Did any spearfishing get done?

Yeah we saw more fish than we've ever seen before, eh jeffers. Loads of mullet! Most of them were more silver and sleaker than the bigger Mullet we saw. GG's?

At one point, i didn't know where to point my gun.... at the 4 mullet that seemed to be circling us, or the big buggers feeding on the weed... too.. much.. choice .. just out of reach most of the time.

Tried a few breath holds but we were getting battered around a bit and i shot a nice Mullet. just under 3lbs gutted. that'll be going on the BBQ tonight then

I think we've found our high tide spot.

I think you've pumped that Mamba up too high mate, you've taken the heads clean off them mullet! :t

Yeah well the mamba completely scaled that 4lb bass as well! Truth is my garden is paved in fish scales so I am trying to make the effort to clean my fish on the beach.
It was a nice dive down north way? I found the bass on the edge of the tide & the ggs in some string. Nice vis - 20'+ but still some plankton about.

Yeah, well I was about to say that I've been in "StuckintheOffice" all day, while it's been sunny and perfect conditions outside - consoled by the E / NE wind which meant there would be no fish!:vangry

Sunfish, you sussed us out, there was no spearfishing done at all, just drinking, eating, carousing and sleeping! ( especially Spaniard :t ) I think there are about 500 pics yet to be posted.

OMD also had a interesting catch, he is out for food but I am sure he will give us the details later.
Great to have all these new members, hope you guys stay around longer than the 1/2 dozen or more who made post last year never to be heard again

I went in the water very briefly today, viz was good but I didn't have the time to see much other than a few mullet and baby bass by the time I scaled the rocks down to low water having forgotten some shoes. Me poor feet are killing me and all cut up from the rocks. Last time I listen to Magpie where to go and don't listen to the bit about shoes...

P.S. Saw Marco (?) and missus arriving as I was leaving, going to a spot near where I was headed but they went into a different area and hence different entry point and easy walk to the sea, the difference is that he looks fit enough to swim round the island in the time it would take me to swim to my destination from where they started!!
