it really was too much to resist...
vis was as expected - shocking (watch the vid'... ;-) )
i thought the water was pretty warm still - after several weeks of not getting in, i was pleasantly surprised
best of all - i caught plenty for tea for all the family.
i need to work on pointing the camera at the fish when recording! also - looks like the loss in resolution loading to youtube has obscured the fishies a bit :-(

I was out to Fort Houmet fishing and viz looked remarkable to be honest. Haven't seen it looking like that all year, of course you can only tell so much from the surface though.

Well i had asked if people were interested in a night dive for the 8th of Nov and there was a little interest... the weather is not looking too good for the weekend, but tomorrow evening is looking fine Is anyone interested in getting together, say 6ish tomorrow?

Well done Jonny - could be the only November f.o.m.! The viz looked quite good compared to when I last went in a few weeks ago. Can't do tomorrow unfortunately - parents' evening, and preparing for Mrs Sarnian's birthday on Friday. :friday

Well it was a pleasant little swim, vis was good in the shallows but murky further out (so i went back to the shallows!) with a bit of swell starting to push too.
There weren't that many fish out, i had a request in for sole, but the only ones i saw i didnt want to take, smallish, but so much hassle too... anyhow, i came accross a small pollack (which my son loves ) and then the red mullet - only the second i've seen! and finally a bass on the way in - my favourite!
there were tonnes of those little baitfish (smelt?) everywhere, more than i've seen for ages.
Anyhow, just hoping that we can ressurect a fish of the month comp for november... i'd like to enter my red mullet at 1lb 6 oz (come on guys, make it a competition with some more entries ... ;-) ).

I've been in a couple of times this week. I look almost every day to see if it's worth going but this year goes from bad to worse. Even when its calm the vis is usually poor.
The vis in one side of Grande Havre was 2 foot or less in the shallows and about 10 foot in the deep. Worse still though was the swell and the tons of dead weed on the bottom. Strange thing was the other side of the bay the vis had looked okay (from the pier, anyway).
Vis on the east coast was zero. well maybe six inches max in the shallows. I waded out to my waist turned around and went elsewhere without sticking my head under.
Vis up north was very good well relatively anyway. Despite some swell last night you could see 15 to 20 foot in places. Trouble was very few fish.
For 2 dives I've managed only a half dozen + fish , mainly plaice, bass and reds. No size soles seen at all and no squid either. Lost a couple of reds too, including a biggy. Reds are the bane of my life. I just can't seem to hit them right.
Would have gone again tonight but duty calls.
