Same to you Col and while I'm at it ...

Seasons greetings to all on DB.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all my Guernsey mates on DB :inlove.

Dave.

Wishing all my mates on the fair isle of Guernsey a fantastic Christmas, all the best boys.:friday

Thank you, Magpie. Can any of you supply or direct me to any good pictures of these "simple swinging moorings" or the "marinas [whose] pontoon slide up and down big piles?"

Also, when you all say ormering time is coming, is this related to the tides or any other aspect of nature such as ormer , or is it more something based on when you're free to go do it (either legally or because of work) or just a matter of local tradition?

Everyone have a wonderful Boxing Day Eve!

Happy Chrimbo One and all.

Had a 'smoke out' yesterday salmon, mackerel and trout for today's starters with smoked cheese as well

Hope you all have a great day

Andy

I'm also stufferoonied after a 3 bird roast ( no, the eating type!) and various glasses of something bubbly, something cold and fruity, something dark and red, something creamy and something appley and very strong!

I thought EP might also be interested for his book, in this rare picture of the horned beast of the Vale, who catches bass with his bare yellow claws! Also my panoramic study of my local beach.

Merry Crimbo all!

It's two days before and the day of the full moon I thought. Which makes it the 1st and 2nd, and I'm away for both, bugger :vangry

Some good tides this year though :)

Nope - got a new tide table & there is definitely an ormer icon alongside the first & the second, sat tide being 1.0.

The bit in the tide tables says " between the 1st January and the 30th April, and then only on the day of each full or new moon and on the 2 days following." the 31st Dec is a full moon and the 1st and 2nd only are shown on the 2010 tables, which seems to stack up. Anyway I'm going to try on the 1st, if I'm up in time!:)

I'm sure you're both right. I looked in the press and it said the full moon was on the 2nd but I now realise that was the 2nd December not 2nd January. The moon is full again on the 31st Dec and so the tides are 1st and 2nd - just the 2 days.

Personally I think everyone should go on the 2nd, except me who's going on the first :t . Think it's going to be busy this year.

Dave.

well while you chaps go after omers, i was thinking of going in, looking for scollaps - will they be around at this time of year? any suggestions of suitable spots would be welcome... :) i think east coast... havelet ?

Thanks chaps, think i'll give it a go thursday/friday over the low if the weather is ok. anyone care to join me?
the forcast is pretty dodgy tho so it might all change :( just been down the aquarium and the water looked pretty choppy.
