No footage ian - waiting on the cam float paperwork and taking a short break from that, going in simples :)
Breathholds are improving now, just need some warmer water to relax more, and for more consistency... I also have some banks i want to explore from the boat, about 12m on a low tide...
water was 9 degrees yesterday, 8 the day before!

.

My new mask fogged a lot, anyone have any tips for remedying this?

Fro in shorts .... when you lube up your suit before putting it on with soapy water ( which I assume you do ?) slop some soapy mixture in your mask ,rub it around and rinse , then it should be fine .... at present this may be worse due to temperature differential between your face and the cold water ....

Took new toys for a swim today, missed low tide by about an hour and a half but had a great swim. Went south west and despite the wind saw and missed plenty of fish, saw a dozen or so bass and loads of fat mullet really close in. Bagged a behemoth of a cuttlefish fish which has a date with tempura and sweet chili sauce tomorrow. A few lobsters around, collected a few, but after checking with the guage on the beach only kept 2.
Excellent dive, and a pleasure to be back under the water, a few minor issues though.
It is abundantly clear that I need at leas another 2 kg. Does anyone rate back weights?
My fins worked great but destroyed my feet, serious cramp.

My gun handle isn't very grippy which makes following fish or moving the gun across my body difficult, anyone got any suggestions on what I might coat it with?
Nice one John! You didnt go with the Mamba then? Re suit lube, the tried and tested one most people seem to use is hair conditioner mixed in a big fizzy drink bottle of water. Hot water is even more pleasant! Has the double whammy of sorting out your split ends too! :hmm
Boots own brand was the cheapest last time I looked - no need to splash out on designer brands! :D

Cheers for the tips guys, will modify my handle. Sorted my mask out with tooth paste. went in again last night down leree and had a great dive, mask was fine, fins seemed to fit better and saw loads of bass, bagged a nice one, missed a big one, and shot a cuttlefish that at one point went for the end of my gun, quite weird being charged down by an angry/ maybe randy cuttlefish.

Sounds like you're having fun out there Fro...
was a little bit epic the last few days! more calm weather to come too... hoping for a yak dive and maybe even off the boat on Monday...

Nice panorama Jonny. Think I might have to give the gear a once over....small steps! Keep the good reports coming, monday may be the day.

hi guys

What do you think about pneumatic/rubber spearguns? which one is the best?

i'm thinking to buy one but dont know which one..

Both work well but you can just walk into a shop, buy a band gun & use it straight from the box. Air guns are a bit more specialist & not so readily available in guernsey for the better models! It also depends on how much you want to spend as a good modern air gun can cost £200 + to buy.
For ease of purchase buy a standard 90cm single band gun, that will catch you your tea as well as anything & then consider buying high end air gun with a custom made dry barrel kit!

Well not actually jonny, you can unload an airgun too but, the spear needs to be pressed against a hard surface & the spear gently released against your arm pressure, the reverse action of a band gun really!

another good swim yesterday, down Rousse way, went in to get some fish for a bbq and some pot bait. In for an hour and a half, viz was reasonable. Got 1 nice thick lip mullet, 1 golden grey and on 4lb ish bass which I effectively euthenased (no idea how to spell that) as when I saw it I literally froze and it swam up to take a look at the end of my spear, so did my bit for evolution and strengthened the guernsey bass gene pool.

When the mackerel start to move in will use them as pot bait, but for the moment are mullet a sustainable alternative?

I use mullet as pot bait all the time - well the carcass at least. the fillets get eaten of course. i use a bit of fish oil to strengthen the bait flavour...
i made the long swim from vazon to perelle again this morning, not as fishy as last week, but eventually bumped into a few fish. saw what i think was a trout or salmon, but it was a glimpse only...
Watched the football [c'mon the green army! :) not really my thing, but it makes a change!] then out in the boat this evening for a couple of hours. epic day :)
more tomorrow......
