Went for a swim at Fermain bay this afternoon and the viz was around 3m if you're looking for somewhere to dive.

Viz sorted itself out today so surfed and dived :t went after razor clans and checked a favouroute spot of mine on the way in, got a nice little surprise

Met its end with garlic, Chilli, butter and an open wood fire, time for a snooze me thinks :)

Nice lobster there!

Got in again today to find good viz and came out with another 5lb bass and a 3lb bass too. Lovely. Two more days here and back home on Wednesday. Thank you Guernsey!

was going to try and do my 1st night dive this week, anyone got any advice? planning to do the egg wrack at rocquaine ahigh tide, not deep, not far out, houses with lights clearly vissible from the dive area. all advice welcome.

Stay in the shallows, find some sand, go with a partner if possible & mark you snorkel with a chemical light, take a compass.
I would think either side of the cup & saucer would be good at high tide but I much prefer low on a neap.

check it out at dusk to see if there are any nets around.
Do you have a decent torch?
take a camera :)

Cheers guys, will have 2 torches on me a good one and a backup, and will go with a dive buddy as A. I agree its the most sensible, and B. I am a wuss.

I couldn't find any plaice this morning but I did see a small sole & numerous cuttle's .. nothing taken though.

Mullet Dog had a treat this morning. Seared scallops on a bed of cauliflower, broccoli and pea mash. She eats better than I do.

Great lobby, think I might go out around 6pm for a couple of hours tonight, another cracking day

Fro - take a gun with a half wrap. Take as little gear as possible (no nets, no floats) - everything at night is 100 times harder than in daylight! Good luck.

Did someone say the Bass were at Ladies bay/Chouet ? :vangry

Went for a dive from right side of portinfer, then across to Port Soif and back again, loads of rockies as always, loads of shoals of Pollack, big shoal of school bass, but not much in the way of food fish.

Anyone can point me in the right direction without giving there fav spot away :inlove

You will find the bass near the edges rather than in the centre of a bay especially when the weather is so calm.
Try behind the clay pigeon range on the right hand side & across to the Port Gratt headland but keep to the shallows....plenty of bass in that area.

Thank you foxfish, I've seen some big bass around that way but generally a bit scarce, last night it was pretty shallow around there but plenty of string weed, could be just a quiet night on the fish front, I'll try it again though
Cheers

Have been checking out the sandy bays lately; Fermain, Saints, Lancresse. Been after the flatties but not had much luck. Previously I have seen them down in little eddys near anchors or small rocks on the sand banks but haven't seen any in a while. Am I missing something? Should I not be targeting large sandy areas or have you guys got any tips for locations, fishing techniques,
ha either that or I am swimming right-by the sneeky bast**ds! :D

Nine times out of ten flatfish are buried with only a faint outline or just a tiny part showing. You need to get your eye in to know what to look for......

Hmm I have been tapping my spear onto anything that looks even remotely suspicious but still no luck, I ll keep plugging away at it. Cheers anyway!
