Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Low spring tides, at any sandy bays, will defiantly yield flatfish in less than 8m deep but obviously some bays are better than others.
I, or any other member, is unlikely to give away their best spots on an open forum though!
keep at it, I have caught more this year than in many other years already!

Advice on masks

Been struggling this year with my Cressi Evo big eyes mask, spending the first 30 minutes or so with leaks, then eventually having to tighten it right up to stop leaks but too tight on my head

When i took the mask to herm a couple of weeks ago and didn't have hood of wetsuit on had no leaks at all and was comfortable.

Thinking maybe i will just have to look at getting something different. Problem over here is we don't have a big dive shop with lots of masks to try on.

Has Donkey Divers got much in stock?

Everyone's face size is different, mine would be longer and thinner :)

Advice please thanks?

If you want to gamble on a recommendation-

I would have to recommend the oceanic shadow mask, I have a very long, thin face and it fits perfect. It's lasted me for years and has been spot on- fits well, neoprene head wrap at the back so it's comfy, low volume so great to equalise the mask. I always use a lighter to burn off the coating on the inside of the tempered glass with all my masks (controversial I know) and having done this the shadow has never fogged! Mask looks sweet too and it's small enough to have a spare in your BCD if your cave/ice/wreck diving too, what's not to like?

Another thought- if I catch you out fishing you can always try my spare

Thanks for this, looks like it might be a winner, and yes if possible would be ideal to meet up sometime so i could try it. I'll message you my mobile number later and see if we could meet up soon. :D
Cheers

I think you have answered your own question ( no leak without hood ) ensure that the mask is sealed to your face without the material of your hood being "trapped" under the mask skirt , I often do this !!!

Seals always fine, I think it's just that mask over a hood, I'll try another one as tried just about everything with the Cressi, happens every time even after spending an age before entering the water checking everything is ok

Nice little promotional vid

I have to agree with seaweed I also have an oceanic shaddow mask and have no problems with it a very good quality mask , the only thing I can think of for myself personally I have a small head and can't tighten in as much as I would like bit is still comfortable and does the job very well

Ok cheers, I take it you ordered it online?

Nice dive with Seaweed today and now one Oceanic shadow mask on order, put it on, no leaks, no nonsense, loads of suction on the face and didn't move. Most comfortable mask I've tried in an age...cheers Seaweed on that one
Vis was terrible today, full snot algae bloom, got a little better as tide came up but still a lack of fish around.
Big Jellyfish in shot

Awful vis today, tried the westcoast in the morning, nothing. East coast on the boat in the afternoon, nothing. But eventually found somewhere on the south coast with good enough vis, even managed to find this 6lb mullet but nothing else seen.
