Is there any countries that u dont need spearfishing licence

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I have come across stories on how we should avoid flying through Hong Kong with spearguns as they might detain you and the gun in the airport - even if you are just transferring. But does anyone here know if you can actually obtain a license in Hong Kong for a speargun? And if yes, do you need an HK ID?

In some Australian states you do not need a license.

From my knowledge there is no licence for spearfishing, but in some states you are required to have a licence for fishing (not specifically Spearfishing) such as Victoria where you are required to have a recreational fishing licence if you are between the ages of 18 and 70. this being said they are not awfully expensive at around $25 aud per year.

Italy. In Italy you don't need a license for spearfishing in the sea
(but you need a license for spearfishing in lakes)

Are you serious? I live in mallorca and they charge you 85€ a year... for a f*cking empty sea... so annoying :(

At present in Italy you have to register online to go fishing and spearfishing in the seas.
The registration is mandatory if you want go fishing even one time.
You can register and therefore go fishing if 16 years old and above.
Otherwise you may receive a fine if found without this kind of license.

in the FAQ page there's an interesting note:
"if you are a foreign citizen and so you don't have an Italian Fiscal code you have to insert your ID card number then add so many 0 (zeroes) to reach a sixteen 16 characters code"

Axe !! France request Spearfishing license at least since 50 years ! + now France request spearo to cut the fin from speared fish !! so fishes would not be selling in markets..b rgds

you need a licence in France too (it s free but you have to ask it to the bureau des affaires maritimes) ,it s also included in the cmas-ffesm licence.
but spearing on scuba is strictly forbidden.
by the way does someone knows if spearing on scuba is allowed in some european countries or is it only an american thing ?

(given the fact that there is hardly any fish left in the med shallower than 15m ,it s a good thing that spearing with scuba is banned..at least fishes can have a sanctuary if they go deeper..)

They changed the law, all you need in France now is a civil insurance (assurance RC) that covers spearfishing.

Nope, they changed the law, 2 or 3 years ago. All you need is a civil insurance (assurance RC) that covers spearfishing.

Nul n'est censé ignorer la loi ;)

Portugal you have 30day if you are on holiday. Norway and U.K. are both free.

It is different in every province of Canada. In Quebec it is the same rules, license and quota then conventional fishing freshwater and salt water. only difference is that there is four freshwater species that you can't fish at all. You are even allowed to sf with tanks(ridiculous)
In Ontario you are only allowed to spearfish carps and white suckers. I don't know about the other provinces.

It is forbiden for foreigners to spear in turkey, as it is here in N/Cyprus, the controlls are sadly very weak though.

That's not strictly true! Foreign tourists CAN spearfish in Turkey, but very sadly only as part of a formally organised boat trip where the tourist fishing guide organises separate licences for each person who wants to spearo/fish - the method don't matter.

However, you are correct for spearo in the conventional sense i.e. for those of us holiday tourists that want to spearo privately (with a buddy of course) from a boat or by entering from the shore. It IS forbidden!

Native Turks and permanently resident foreigners CAN/MUST buy licences to privately spearo.
