ILDiver- 90cm would be pretty Ideal for Geneva - right now the clarity is 18.6' - I think I will be using my Woody- You can have/or use one of my float lines (25') I have 4. I would keep a line connected to the gun unless it's carbon or wood where it can float to the surface. (just in Case). TASS should be able to come too- he just needs to work out the details with the boss :t . You know.........you could always video me- since I'll be slaying them all :martial- I am kinda worried about boat traffic and idiots flying around the lake. I did pick up a large BLUE/WHITE flag- and with my Large Red/White one - People will hopefully get a clue not to come near. This should be lots of FUN! rofl

Well, as far as carp goes... I've never seen one diving by Water Safety Patrol building (by Williams Bay) in 4 years :) As far as I know, there's more carp by Lake Geneva, it's a shallower end of the lake. BTW, we can meet at Big Foot Park, plenty of parking and just have to cross the road to the lake. Or.. At GWC (college in Williams Bay) by WSP. Just throwing ideas around :)

Khel- is there a boat launch at GWC or Big Foot Park? which ever one has a boat launch otherwise- I can always put in somewhere else and cruise over to the Park to pick you all up-

Khel - just to give you an Idea of what we look like so we can find each other easier: I usually have a blue hat on and a "Deeperblue.net" shirt on, and drive a gray Dodge Durango. ILDiver wears a red shirt and Purple Hat and drives a Pink "MaryKay" Car. (not really sure what's up with that:confused:)

Speaking of equipment. The Aqua Lung rep was in the shop yesterday and had the TECHNISUB - MASKS - MARINA with him. Man that thing is small and almost no airspace. It's comfortable. But the retail is around $120.00.

ILDiver,

He had what in the shop with him? I've been trying to get those, through the US, for the past year and had NO luck- the reps didn't even know what we were talking about- is Jeff W. your rep as well? Myin-law's went to DEMA last year and searched all over for one, but the most they could come up with was a picture of one at the Technisub booth.

Last I heard was that it was being replaced with the Micro mask.

I have a Marina, a broken one, and I loved it. After contacting Aqualung I, finally, convinced them to send me a spare buckle, the weak point of the mask, and they said they would. It's been over a week and I am still waiting.

It's a great mask, if you can get it, but $120 seems a little steep- I paid $70 for mine and that included shipping from South Africa!

Aqualung is using the same buckle on at least one other mask and may have a problem with these once they get out into wider circulation- it just shouldn't break that easy.:head

Jon

Jon, yes Jeff is our rep, he knew you. At least I think it is you. He said Jon S....something and a school teacher, or so he thought. I had no clue, but I assumed it was you and went on.

On the mask, it could be called a Micro now. It looks extremely similar to the Marina. The thing was so small I thought it was for 2yr olds. There was hardly any air space in the mask. The buckles are used on another one of their masks, they are a round swivel type joint. They say Circular...something on them. I swore I would remember what it said, but can not.

He explained to price to be high due to the new process used to make it withe setting the glass in, molding the frame and the skirt and...yeah, he lost me at $120 retail. Although it was a very nice looking and fitting mask.

He was close- Jon Z.

I used to use a Sphera, and then switched to a Falco- both made by Aqualung. When the Marina/Micro came out I was pretty excited to try one and it was my favorite mask to date- until it broke.:rcard

The Falco also broke within less than a year, the frame cracked, and Sphera's never seem to last more than a season since the plastic lenses get scratched up so easily.

I thought that the Marina would be my last mask I'd ever own, until it broke too. I think that they call it a Cadirondic buckle- or some silly marketing term like that. Either way, it's the weak point of the mask.

You could buy a couple of OMER masks for the price of one of those.

Jon

Yeah, I was interested until $120. And the name he spit out could have started with a Z, yesterday was a trying day at work. Also, where do you get your cold water face shield?

I bought this Winter hood - it fits nice- not sure how it will do in the cold water- seeing how this will be my 1st year in it. it was $23.00 (ish) plus shipping (I think $10) just another option- I looked for along time for one of these- I didn't even find the one Jon posted- and I was on that web site.

CAPUCHA SPETTON WINTER 3MM

You guys are crackin' me up with this!!!!rofl

I was wondering where in the heck ILDiver got that hood. I ended taking the hood I got in size LARGE back today...Lastnight I put in on for awhile trying to see if It would start to feel a little less constricting...No dice...I could barely open my mouth. I felt like my head had been swallowed by a pyhton or something!!!!

Never the less I ended up taking it back to exchange it for an EXTRA LARGE!!! I never thought I had a BIG noggin...I guess I was wrong!!!!

I MAY EVEN CHANGE MY HANDLE TO SOMETHING LIKE FATHEAD!!!!rofl

ILDiver!

You are working in a dive shop. By any chance would You be able to get us 100% oxygen (it's awesome after a dive)
Also any chance for some small air tank and a lift bag?

I can pay for all above

Whopper, will You bring polespear or extra gun I could try? And how many guys can fit in Your boat (on each deck:))

First the hood, I got it for using in open water scuba classes. In the not so clear local waters it makes it much easier for the students. Plus it's a 3mm hood and it kept me from the brain feeze (Whopperhead is not familiar with brain freeze).

Nostress, I can't bring the O2, but a liftbag and tank is no big deal. What do you need a lift bag for?

BTW - Carp are not in Lake Geneva in huge numbers. In fact I would say there are not ALOT of carp in there. I do however see atleast one or two each time I go there. I've ONLY dove in Williams Bay though - Khel is right that there may be more on the OTHER end of the lake though...But never the less there ARE carp present in Wiliams Bay.

I like to eat fish...Lake Geneva holds some whopper panfish and some true jumbo perch - some that almost approach Lake Michigan proportions. The crappies that come outta here can be VERY nice too...And they have VERY wide "shoulder's" to boot! But first you gotta find 'em!

Lake Geneva is an AWSOME lake to spear - and freedive. Good luck on the "rough" fish - They are few and far between...BUt YES they are in there and many are pretty big. Oh yeah...I've (actually my son) speared a Garfish in there too!

I'm gonna set up my ground blind somewhere in my back yard tomorrow and then I'm off to WILLIAMS BAY!!!!!!! Maybe there might be a FEW less carp there for you guys...And HOPEFULLY alot less crappies!:t

Nostres - I will bring 4 of my guns- so there will be extra - I do not have a polespear- But you are more than welcome to use a speargun- if you decide to shoot FISH - you know you should buy a 2-day fishing license or something. Unless you already have one.

I don't only shoot carp - I have been known to shoot other fish too.

Brainfreeze??????

;)
