Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I think they are all at the final party, no one to write the reports. The last message from the Czech team: http://www.aida-czech.cz/123 just states the top 3 men and that there still can be some protests in the evening.

I think the PR probably could have been done just a little better...

I mean according to the official site, there basically has been no event.

Over 23.000 hits on this thread, so obviously there is interest...Pity

I agree - terrible pity! I just hope that organizers of future events will learn from this failure, and will assign a person resposnsible for the PR, and online reporting. I do not see the real-time video streaming as a necessity (though it would be certainly nice), but having live data feed to a website costs nothing and can be done without any big effort and at no cost. I think that the information flow was better at many local competitions done with a zero budget.

Believe me, we all want to know results from dynamic!

Organisers, I just want to give you something BIG :rcard

Thanks Andrew. For some reason I get a not found message at PFI except the CW pages. I'm hoping that someone works on publishing the top ten performances in each event when they bring out the team results.

Pleasure, Bill. It doesn't copy well! And if this is a copyright thingy then delete but this is the page: http://www.performancefreediving.com/news/news_egyptstaticlist.htm

Trux - that's a great attitude but don't count on it. Out of all the competitions we've covered (or tried to cover) the only organisation that tried in any way to do it properly was CAFA with the Vancouver Worlds in 2004. Every other organisation has zero or less than zero interest in helping the FreeDiving public know what is going on.

THE 10 BEST STATIC

That's why I wrote I hoped they learn from this event. Finally many of the sponsors financing the competitions are suppliers of freediving (or scuba diving) equipment. And since many of potential future competition organizers are DB members and read these posts, I hope they realize how important the PR and information flow are also for gaining sufficient financing from sponsors.

This is something that can not be left to the whims of the organiser. AIDA must demand facilities for the press, including an able press person in charge of gathering all relevant information, passing it to the media and posting it in the internet. This is nothing very expensive but even if it were should be one of the conditions required by AIDA, and agreed to in writing by whomever request the venue of a World Championship or any other major competition sponsored by AIDA. Nothing contributes more to the growth of any sport than the publication of this kind of events, world records, etc. Are we to believe that neither AIDA nor the organisers are really interested in the growth of free diving?

Yeah, I guess that simply add a clause in the rules for the organizer that "there must be one person dedicated to gathering and publishing results. The results must be on line in x hours after the last diver has completed their performance". Or something like that.

It's not really even that much work, but it is annoying to do if you have a zillion other things to worry about. That's why there should be one person dedicated to only doing that. Then again, it's the only thing that really matters as far as the "outside world" is concerned. If you don't publish results, you might as well as had no competition...

Anyway, the only info I have of the Finnish dynamic results is a cryptic message from the team it self - "we don't even know our selves". I can only assume that there are some protests going on?

Eh....
What about DYN? Was that discipline excluded from final results? What's this silence concerning DYN results?

Regarding future competition organizing: Keep it simple! Before the logistics, scheduling, communications, equipment etc. CRITICALLY necessary stuff is stabilized don't dilute your mind-time to anything fancy e.g. live TV-coverage.

It was almost depressing to follow the swimming European Championships on TV, where everything happened exactly on time and results were available instantaneously. Of course the resources available were from another planet, but maybe next time the organizers could ask some advise from persons who have experience in organizing even regional swimming competitions...

Were there any protests? Still only unofficial results. Does anyone know how did Japan do in their dynamics? They were first after the static competition. Hope we'll get the official results soon. And with official championship web? If it's updated around new year even only with pictures, it'll be a great success.......ironic
