...It's a little pathetic.....What a joke!

Agreed. I find that I am losing interest with each time I go to find results and find none. But who am I to complain? I haven't done a thing and leave all of the work to others.

This delay is just the opposite of Marwan's exciting commentary of the constants. That was great even if I read it 12 hours after it happened.

Peace,
Glen

Why whine before you try to find it...

The result list have been online since last night, 5h after the last official top.

That's nice if one knows the direct link, but you forget that the website of AIDA (http://aida-international.org) is dead since about 6 weeks. Read more about it here: [ame="http://forums.deeperblue.net/showthread.php?t=64357"]http://forums.deeperblue.net/showthread.php?t=64357[/ame]

And even though I found the anonymous address at hotweb.se, and checked it regularly, I never saw any results there until now.

I cannot judge the work you done locally (though there are rumors that it was a big chaos too), but I think the organizer as well AIDA deserve a :rcard at least for the Public Relation performance at this championship.

Bill,

With all do respect, Mr. Aida President, I think we'd all expect to find the full results on either:

The Competition Website

or

The AIDA Int'l website. (aside from the 1st place results only)

They were on neither.

It would be really nice to have a Worlds that is organized as well as the many
AIDA competitions of all sizes around the world. It's a real shame that the media side of things isn't done a lot better. The organizer of the Worlds is shooting AIDA international in the foot in that respect.

Any thoughts on how to improve it for next time around?

Pete

That xls-file is in-accurat at some spots , Heck I did'nt knew that my girlfriend competed for Mexico , I thought she competed for Sweden? :head
:: Screendump of the xls-file ::

I agree with some of the other members here on DB , files like this should apear on official sites first off all , everything else i just a bonus.

I reckon the Slovenian WC will make an exllnt job.

well. good dives everyone, let's try and learn something from this for the next time hopefully

Andy: actually your girlfriend is listed twice: in the third line for Sweden, and then down in the 38th line for Mexico.

I know she is posted in the third line that is the result 128 m she actually did.
All Im saying is that the post were it says that she did 74m and competing for MEX is totaly wrong. ;)
Someone obviously has got poliofingers or maybe suffercate from a slight LMC while creating that xls-file. We are all humans and we all make misstakes , as long as we learn something from the misstakes then we will be able to make progress =)

Of course there will be actions after this WC. (more info later)

AND I'm sorry that the official WC website have been dead since September.

Yes, we are going to find a new web-hotel(and server) for the AIDA website.
The result list on the AIDA website should be correct, send me a mail if you find anything wrong. I can't find Isabelle represent more than Sweden in that list.
To Laminar... download the results and you will find the full list.

As the organizer I can assure you the world championships in Slovenia will be totaly different. Now that WCh Hurgada is over we will again start working on our website and there will be regular updates from new year on. We thought of a system that will allow us almost live results on the web. Don't worry guys we wont forget about the freediving comunity because we do care!! First of all we will deliver prompt results to the competitiors because its just awful not to know what and how you did and second we will deliver real time results on our web page. If somebody from deeperblue would like to report from on site he/she is wery warm welcome.

Hope to see you in Slovenia next year.

Cool, 207m DYN for Alexey! That's very impressive given the circumstances...And would be in any circumstances

By the way, anyone with ideas how to do things better AND also the skill and commitment to actually do it - AIDA is always on a look out for people who get things done. Don't be shy, just contact them.

But such people are rare, most of us are competent only in complaining and whining in forums :) Some may have even good ideas and are able to half implement them. But where, oh where do we find the guys who go all the way through with it?

SanSan,

After attending your last and very well organised competition I have no doubt that you will do a perfect job for the comming WC for BOTH athletes and media.
Of what I have seen you have already a lot of experience with getting media involved and work closely with them. The trick will be to get international media exposure, but I settle for well organised rofl

Good luck with all the coming hard work and sleepless nights.

That is a very anglo-etno-deeperblue-centrian way of seeing the world.
Lots of smaller competitions publish quick results - and NORDIC DEEP (2nd biggest this year) published results within 4 hours and written reports within the day. And off course this is just a way of giving my own organization a compliment :)

Sebastian,

I completely agree with you! I love the way I can generally find out information about national and local competitions really quickly! My comments are only targetted at World Championship level competitions - to everyone else - keep up the good work!! If anyone organising a competition wants to work with DeeperBlue.net to get coverage or assistance in getting results out through DB let me know via email or PM and we'll work something out.
