new OMER pneumatic!!!

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Yes, Dominator, it's missing all the way if you're talking about the so called Super Airbalete: also the announcement made on the italian forum by Omer's president seems it has been deleted.....what the heck?!
(While if you're talking of the regular Airbalete, it's in the Omer catalogue but I'm sure you already knew this).

Word is its just a mistake. The Super Airbalete remains a mystery however.

I haven't but, coincidentally I saw it first hand today at my LDS...I liked it, but i especially liked the handle, its awesome, very cool barrel, wasn't to impressed with the spear (although quite a few guys thought it was nice), seemed a bit heavier than my cyrannos......for $700 clams i'll wait, perhaps a few years- overall nice, handle outrageous, price ridiculous, guess someones gotta pay for all the R&R, let see how the reviews turn out.

Tone, 700 USD seems quite much for a few farts! :blackeye
The item's price tag here in Italy is just below 300 euro, which entitles the buyer to an unlimited amount of farts. :)

Found this test, 4 meters from speartip to target and only 14 bar pressure (less than half the max). Looks quite good. (one of the 2 testers used to be the spearbuddy of my brother in law, and the other was the freedive instructor of my bro in law).

$700!!! that's absurd, I wouldn't pay that either guys:) It should be selling in the $500-563 range and when you figure no shipping from your LDS, 2 years of local dealer guarantee replacement, spare shafts and parts and service it's a lot for a gun. Remember the reel adds at least $100 (50 ONE reels on the small ones 80 ONE reels on the big one) and that can be taken off putting the gun in the $400 range, plus or minus the same as Europe.

Oh yeah, no more messy oil jobs either.

Hi there Mark, nice to see you on board!
Do you think it's worth (and do you know if it's possible) to fit one of those barrel seal kits on it, such as Mamba, Kara-Yo and similar?
(frankly speaking, if the 90 shoots straight from 4 meters with only 14 bar pressure, I think it's not necessary to add any more power to it. But the forum is full of Mamba enthusiasts and this is a recurrent question).

Price: Indeed as Mark says the Omer's official price tag here in Italy is 440 euro (586 USD) for the Airbalete 110 and 400 for the 90.
But shops are offering a 25% cheaper "launch sale" to promote the new product, though, as it's always a good policy to create some debate about new items: "Has anyone tried it?"..."Yes we have"...

OK, I was generalizing, I wasn't quoted an exact price, I was told, "close to $600", factor in the tax, and a spring steel shaft and your close to $700, and it might be well worth it too:friday

Pretty amazing penetration at 4 meters, 14 bar for a 90. That looks like a piece of 3/4 plywood - but even if it's just 1/4" it's showing an effective killing range of 4 meters.

Since the mamba type kits are pretty much machined to the gun I'm sure someone will build them - but with that kind of performance I wouldn't bother.

If it shoots like that at 14 bars I suppose the piston must be more than 11 mm, maybe 13 mm? Am I right?

It's 11,2 mm (11+0,2). Definitely a non-typical caliber. Rumors (rumors) say it's because Mares has a patent for 11mm inner barrel pneumatics: Omer made it 11,2 and that did the trick to avoid patent troubles with Mares.

This is the 110 tried at sea. Some nice fish shot: brown meagre, gilthead bream...

The guns looks good, sounds good but why is it any better than the cheaper Omer models? I mean is it actually more powerful? Is the trigger smoother & does it have any secret new internals that make it different?

I agree to what foxfish said. I don't find it better than Cyrano 110, maybe just different.

I can't say if it's better or worse or same as the others concerning with performance and power. I haven't used it. But I've understood something about the concept.
First thing to notice is the name, AirBalete.
Everyone understands it is a cross word between Airgun (the traditional oleopneumatic speargun) and Arbalete (the french word for euro-style bandgun).

But it's not only about playing with words: in facts the concept of this gun is actually about taking the best of Airguns (the power/size ratio, basically) and the best of advanced arbaletes (a more ergonomic handle, a cleaner aiming sightline and a more hydrodynamic barrel). That's it.

In facts all airguns are basically the same, and the new Omer Airbalete doesn't differ: compressed air pushes the piston, and the piston pushes the shaft. Full stop.
But you may agree that (left aside mamba and similar system) olepneumatic guns havent' changed for 40 years. The handles haven't changed at all, the barrel designs haven't changed at all.

On the contrary, bandguns have seen a big improvement of desing, that is not only bells and whistels, but it's fuctional design: all the newly designed bandguns have a more hydrodynamic barrel (ellyptical/cuttlefishbone section) and more ergonomic handles, which means basically a higher trigger. A higher trigger (the trigger is not under the barrel, but behind the barrel) allows a better control of recoil and a much better aiming sight, because the hand that pulls the trigger is (almost) on the same axis of the shaft AND on the same axis of the target itself.

No airgun featured this feature. Now the Omer Airbalete does.

I know this is not a big concern for those who are already familiar with airguns: habitual arigun users know already how to aim them correctly, they're familiar with it's swinging and recoil.

The Omer Airbalete is aimed to match the liking of those who DON't use airguns now and, in short, it is intended to bring more bandgun users to join the dark side. :martial

Applause: :thankyou

I think that degree of penetration and accuracy at 4 meters and 14 bar - indicates some real improvements in materials and design. I don't think my Cyrano 970 could've approached that kind of performance at that pressure.

I agree, and that is why something is unclear to me. Physics is same for each gun. Same pressure, similar piston (could not be very different), similar spear, and very different result, performance? I must say I am dubious about that. I do not believe in miracle about pneumatic guns.
