New Seatec Gabbiano 2009!

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Bro, congratulations! The gun will shoot perfectly straight (but aiming right is up to you!).

Artur, the difference in weight fro carbon to alluminum is about 100 grams (carbon is lighter). I don' t think much it's worth spending the extra money, unless you buy the longer length guns (100cm or +).

Thanks buddy!

I went for the 'Elite' version with 20mm rubbers and reel... never used a gun with a reel before, as you seem to know almost EVERYTHING about spearguns, have you any idea what the range would be like on it?

Thank you for your reply, I did purchase snake 100 aluminium, from Italy from this shop Tutto Pesca Mare : Nautica e Pesca Sportiva, great customer service comparing to other Italian on-line shops, where you dong get an answer fro one week later. I wanted to get carbon but none of the shops had them in stock, and the price difference was big for such a small weight difference. The gun looks great definitely feels the quality and durability. The gun was stet up for use at the shop, good set up, mono bungy, and line on the reel. I am very happy but I did not use it yeah in a week time will finally have great opportunity to use it. I was surprised how difficult it was to get this gun, I thin biggest problem is customer service, there is demand there is supply but in the middle customer service from the sellers lets down the chain. I did even contacted directly seatec for the price list and you know what? their price list is approximate 100 Euro more than disttributors :crutch
My snake 100 has 17.5 double bands, if I will use it for short distance like under rock hutting could I use one band with the same shaft 6.5mm?

Many thanks, count me in as another fun of seatec guns!

Artur, as you're in the UK, why didn't you just order your gun from Dave at Spearo?

He seems to have all the Gabbiano range in stock and anything he doesn't have I think he can get.

He quoted me £130 for a Snake 80, fully rigged with reel.

I'm also slightly confused as to why you'd want to hunt under rocks with a double band 100 in the UK!!! Surely a 60 or 70 would be MUCH better for that!

Thanks for writing back, Dave did not answer his phone or to my emails, I tried for a week dead end. I am going to hunt with it in Greece, as the waters are clear, and still you can use 100 in UK not always but on good days, I do have a gun which is 75 not so good as snake but still works ok. I haven't done much spearfishing in the UK, mostly abroad.

Ah! That makes sense! The water in Greece is stunningly clear!

Shame you couldn't get in contact with Dave, I've had a few periods myself where I couldn't get hold of him.

Saying that, I sent him a PM last week which he replied to the same day - I put my order in for the gun on Monday and it's arriving today (Wednesday) - so pretty great service!

Would you mind posting some pictures of your gun? I've never seen any decent photos of the Snake!

Dave had the Snake!? Gah, I would have ordered that instead of the Gabbiano!

Even so I do love my Gabbiano as it is a brilliant gun! Once you get used to the feel of it, I doubt you will miss a fish other than due to human error. I have only heard of two problems people have with the gun - Rigging and the spear. As far as I have experienced, I have no problems with rigging the gun even with a reel line and 3 mm gloves! I guess it just depends on your dexterity? Someone mentioned that their spear was failing to hold the fish as the flopper has not engaged and 'flopped' but I have never experienced this.

Enjoy the gun mate, it will probably be your last!

He he! That I doubt!

I'm still drooling over the C4 carbon toys! Will have to re-mortgage my girlfriend to buy one! rofl

I wasn't sure about the Snake - it comes with twin bands which in my head seems a little over-kill for my noob efforts! As everyone had nothing but praise for the normal Gabbiano I thought well, why risk it - go with the tried and tested one!

Regarding the Snake, could someone please post pictures of the rigging?

I’m a complete newbie when it comes to open muzzle guns. My only experience is with two OMeR Excalibur 2000 guns (90+75). Guess this will be something completely different.

Today I ordered a Snake myself, a 90 cm mimetic. Will use it for day-hunts targeting trout and mullets. There will be a waiting period for about 3 weeks before my local pusher can deliver. Apparently Seatec is a bit slow when it comes to shipping. My fingers are already itching.

Spaghetti, I’m blaming you for all of this. You should get a job at Seatec, you sell them very well.

Yep its a shame actually he just replyed today, but apparently already i bout one, maybe my next seatec will be from Dave.

Unfortunately My gun is already packet in bag, and I had to wrap the gun just in case, from damage. My flight is tomorrow early morning, but I might post some photos of it from Greece, or for sure when I come back. for a time been I have found this good ling of some ones seatec snake, quality photos, you can see how its rigged as well. The only thing is that this gun is not 2009 model as mine, but I thing only difference is in handle. I hope this helps: Podvodni ribolov, Apnea, Plovila - Oprema/Seatec Gabbiano Snake 110
If any one interested Dave does have seatec snake, just ask him!

Thanks for the pics buddy! That gun is an absolute beast!

Just got my Gabbi in the post - wow - lovely bit of kit! Very pleased and impressed!

I'd expected it to be a bit wider - not sure why. The actual spear is a real work of art and the trigger makes the most satifying click when you pull it!

I brought one with a reel, Spearo Dave said it would come fully rigged, which I presumed, as you would, to mean that the reel was fitted with line etc... not the case though - was disapointed for about 20 seconds, then went back to being impressed with the gun again!

Was a tiny bit confsed about how the line hold the spear but it didn't take me long to work it out, I don't think it will be too hard to load in the water.

Can't wait to get out and attack some fish!

In what ways?

It just seems that a fair amount of effort has gone into it - it's very nicely machined, the dimentions have been laser etched into it and it's a nice, dull gold colour, probably from heat strengthening?

Compared to the spear on my last, cheapo gun, it's beautiful.

Or.... maybe I've just never seen a decent spear before rofl

Does anyone want me to post pics of the whole gun?

Wow! They've done a great job there. Very nice. Cheers for posting. I'd love to see a close-up of the muzzle assembly.

Articulated wish-bone: not 100% sure of the point, but it's very nice

Barrel: For some reason, i thought it would be wider

Gosh, looks like a really hefty mutha of a gun. I thought long and hard about getting a Gabbiano but in the end I opted for a lighter arbalete.

Yeah, it's quite a big lump! From what I've read, the material around the barrel is neutrally bouyent so fingers crossed that weight should disappear underwater.

Hopefuly going to make the long trip to the coast next weekend - I'll let you know how it feels!
