that looks perfect man! i too was thinking about some kinda float to attach the captured/killed fish to for the same reason lol. it sucks to have to go back in each time you get something. from the looks of that bag, it would seem that you can even find a metal ring with some weight to it that fits the circle at the bottom to keep it completely open (like a cylinder)..

ive thought about using an old bodyboard and cutting a nice sized square of it.. you can drill and insert the dive flag, and even drill and attach the mesh bag if you want. a cheaper solution, but not sure how well it would work out. im sure it would be fine.

on a side note, is anybody down to go out tomorrow? i have tomorrow and friday open, so i might do both.. but i was thinking for sure tomorrow. i was hoping to stay local, so anybody that wants to go, lemme know.

the only places ive gone so far are inspiration point, crescent bay, and 10th street laguna. anyone else know of any good spots to check out in the area? i might try out crystal cove but i dont know about paying for parking im pretty broke at the moment lol. any suggestions?

doc suggested i take a week off and let my congestion clear up... i would do only surface diving if anything

i wish i could go out with you guys on fri but i think my friend needs more help with his construction job and the money is good so im prolly gonna do that during teh day. but if you guys are still gonna be out there aroun 5 like last mon let me know i want to go out. i can bring my camera cuz i still have alot of meat left from that ray so i can snack on that for another week or so.

hey guys i just got a killer deal on a brand new JBL 38 special speargun for $70! i guess someone wants to get rid of it and i offered this price and he accepted!, im super stoked, another toy to play with!

aesthetic, they key is to find a dead squid on the beach right now and drag that out there, the fish love squid strips almost as much as urchin guts. Go grab one of the many off the beach in corona del mar and the bat rays will love you.:blackeye

haha.. well i havent seen a dead squid yet.. but even if i did, i dont think i would chum ever.. it would be fun im sure, but i would prefer to just do it the old-fashioned way and enjoy the hunt ;)

I just wanted to corrrect the spelling of one of the authors that I recommended for reading, Carlos Eyles, just incase anyone was interested.

Woods Cove in Laguna Beach California

and im leaving in 10 minutes. those of you who have my cell, i should be checking it quite frequently, but if im in the water then i obviously cant answer it lol.. just take my word for it, ill be there til 7pm.

I Know I Get Pissed Sitting At Work Like I Am Right Now And Aesthetic Is Like Hey Im Goin Out Soon If Anyone Wants To Come. Im Like Damn You, You Lucky Sob.

you are truly lucky aesthetics. I think back to the day when I was free from work and all other responsibilities.....damn do I miss it. you lucky bastard!!!

I remember someone asking about pics from me and beam's trip to Vicente, well here they are. A mediocre catch in my opinion, but far from impressive. The quantity was definitely there though. (3) Barred Bass, (4) Sheephead, and (1) Big Eye Rockfish. Any thoughts?

Be sure to let us all know how the Woods goes today. The conditions have been pretty ideal for that spot. It is a very fickle dive spot so you have to take advantage when you can. Conscious hunting to you.....

im on summer break right now so im trying to make the best of it while i can lol... this summer quarter is my last quarter of school and then its off to the real world in an advertising agency most likely. needless to say, i wont have much free time after that. lol.

it was a decent day at the woods. the shorebreak was around 2-3ft.. so that made entry/exit a little sketchy. other then that though, saw ALOT of calico.. all were roughly 1ft in size. towards the end i saw a large school of fish that looked like barracuda, but im 90% sure they werent. any ideas?

didnt really see anything other than the bass worth shooting at though, and by the time i would dive down to them (15-20ft) they would scatter into their holes and cracks.. and i could only follow them or hang out on top of them for so long before i needed air. i could feel myself staying down longer and longer each trip though.

nice fish kanak, it was me who asked.. might i ask what depths and types of underwater structure you are finding these types of fish at? i feel like all i ever see are garibaldi, perch, calico, rays and sharks.. with the occasional white sea bass or corbina.

aesthetic,

that was mainly in water roughly 10-15. the bottom varried from sandy to large / very large boulders with lots of hiding spots. I picked up a nice sheepshead in about 20-25ft hiding in the kelp.

The Calico is one of the spookiest fish, your dive must be very quiet and you must sneek up usually behind kelp stalks for your best chance. The bigger they get the more wary they are. But if you can get on them with a pole spear your doing just fine.

your bottom time will progress throughout your day diving.

good luck

joel
