It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Do you remember SpearoDave? He was an active and poinant member.. Brithish spearfishing team, shop owner etc.. anyway he repeatedly quoted that it was illegal to sell any speared fish in the UK.
As I remember the key word was 'harpooned' something to do with some bygone law relating to poaching Salmon but nevertheless a law. Of course I have no idea if he was (is) right and that is one reason I an interested in johns comments.
Foxfish, certainly this is my understanding of uk laws.
I paraphrase here but basic law is:
No spearing license is required
No spearfishing in freshwater
No restriction on breathing apparatus
No spearing freshwater fish in salt water ( one can only assume trout and salmon)
No selling any speared fish
No restrictions on day or night spearfishing including by torchlight.
No spearfishing of crustaceans

I'm certain somebody may have something to add to the above, but it is the rules which I abide by

Pretty much standard practice where I live, all the top restaurants will buy fresh shore caught fish from unlicensed people!
A 7lb bass will get you £40 at the back door if is straight from the sea regardless if it has a big hole in the middle.
Be warned - that's the dream - but you may get ripped off: I came across a rod angler that once had a bumper day with some big bass and he doesn't eat them. A local restaurateur suggested he take them round to his chef. Apparently they paid him a pitiful amount and he was still bitter about it several years later.

no, but seen them about. think they are inflatable though so you would have to watch any spiny fish near them. ok with mullet though!
