North Wales, The Llyn and Anglesey 2016

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Sorry matey camping with the family this weekend. Let me know when your heading down again.

I didn't realise you had a commercial liscense obviously when I commented. If you operate within the law then I have absolutely no quams. Someone fishing for their livelihood is very different to someone out to catch a lot of fish for some macho bravado reason, which I think seems more common in European spearos such as dario, it's all about the string of fish around your neck in that world.

Thank you Will, you are very kind and clearly don't know me. Ciao!

Welcome back Dario :) I expect the Welsh spearos & anglers have already contacted the Fisheries fast response team to warn them :D

any vis reports looking at getting in tommorow.....ah forget the reports im going anyway........hehe

Went in on south coast a couple of time on Saturday once at low tide and once at high tide. Viz was 4M+ earlier on but was down to 3M max on second session. Loads of bait fish, jellies and small crab!! (what like them then?) Saw pollock on a point at low tide (my shit duck dive spooked them so they didn't return), Mullet and Bass in the bay along with what may have been bream but this was in murk so I may have made that up. A few spiders but they were all tiny and or female. First time I have seen a shoal of mixed Mullet and Bass very impressive 20 takable fish but like a newby gut shot a Mullet which pulled off spear and the sat there. i foolishly tried to grab it and it did one. Should have reloaded a shot it shouldn't I. Anyway thanks to lads here for your tips and support.

Hello, I’m a complete novice at Spear fishing but I love North Wales especially Anglesey and the Llyn Peninsula.
I recently spent a couple of day on the North side of the Llyn, Porth Colmon, Porth Lago and Porth Ferin.

The visibility was poor and reading this thread it seems the south side is better at this time of year.
Can anyone recommend a good place to try on the south side of the Llyn?

Hi all, it's been a while! Great to see this thread so active! [emoji1]

I made my first Welsh trip of the year and finally managed to dive the north shore after two years of making the trip over and having to dive south side. Saturday I dived south of Tudweiliog. Milky with a swell. First dive into the gloom I nearly head butted a seal. Yeah that freaked me out a bit lol [emoji16] few good sized pollock around and a few spiders. Enough for a bbq with family that evening.

Sunday the sea was flat so dived similar area. Vis around 3m. Very fishy. Loads of pollock, few wrasse, plenty of bait fish. Kept waiting to see some bass / stinkies but they never appeared. [emoji45]

Decided to put together a short video to show some of my non diving friends what it's like beneath the surface. Feel free to watch, sorry it's a little naff, but some nice pollock shoals if you are into that sort of thing. Didn't shoot any Sunday, just enjoyed the show.

Havent shared a YouTube video on here before, so no idea if it will work lol.

Where's the vids nutty
Only discovered this forum recently. I have spent the last couple of nights reading through the 2014 and 2015 threads.
It was a great education and afterward I realised my videos showing me splashing around on top of the water where garbage.
There is no option to edit my post otherwise I would have removed the links and edited the post so I wasn't just asking for spearfishing locations.
I've been working around the North west today. while driving between customers I've been practising holding my breath, I got some funny looks from fellow motorists at the traffic lights. I can only last about 90 seconds before taking a breath and this has made me realise I could do with expert tuition on breathing techniques etc.
Think I'll start with the Warrington BSAC club and maybe a Freediving course in Manchester.

I'd strongly advise against holding your breath whilst driving, if you don't know what you're doing you could potentially black out, which obviously would be bad whilst in control of a car.
Regarding the freediving/spearfishing course, look up apneaboy on here (Steve Millard - www.learn2freedive.com) he'll sort you out.

I was stationary at the time but probably still not wise. Thanks for the advise about Steve Milard, that was the course I was looking at.

I was on the north llyn on Saturday, a bit milky with a lot of particles, but up to 3-4m vis at 4m deep. Definitely fishable.
