This was caught by a fisherman from my local beach that regularly shore dive off.....7 foot beast!!

Not sure what type, I think I was told bronzie but not sure. I agree, it was my first thought at how sad it was to see it on the beach like that.

Anyone heard of the possible sighting of a great white somewhere off west Wales in the last couple of weeks. Exact location has not been released and full ID awaiting confirmation?

I heard it was in East Wales.

It's on twitter as some scientist bods have stuck a tracker on it and they tweet where's it's heading etc; but don't worry, it was like 800 miles off shore.

Well, that's the one they know about. You saying there isn't anymore closer without trackers........[emoji53]

Not that one Kevin, there's another that virtually swam passed a surfer, he's posted photos of its dorsal fin that he's taken. His post on FB states

"went for a surf yesterday and this joined me, I know its a shark, but it was huge, not a basking shark, seen them before, he was about 7/8 meters away and the fin looked about , 1-1/2 foot and getting bigger, this is not a joke or prank, I ask because he started to come in closer to the beach, its strange as this is west wales, uk, but the water is getting warm....any help would be great, have informed the MCA, as it was very large and cruising the shallows when I left the beach..any help would be great.....sorry for two pics, but really need to know what it is, its on one of our biggest tourist beach's and its holiday season"

Ahhhh ok, my bad! No ideas then, looks like a shark fin. Unless there's some kid with a thing strapped to his back and it's all an elaborate prank.

That's a dolphin (hopefully) - the fin has a VERY distinct curve in it that is not shark-like.

Here is the photo:

Saying that - the fin is very "vertical" if that makes sense - a bit more vertical that a typical dolphin fin but then the "C" shape is very dolphin-like... I'm siding with dolphin, which is the most logical explanation.

If it were a dolphin the chap would have seen it breach or come up for air. He seems quite certain it was a shark.

He's probably telling porky pies... ;)

Every year, there are always shark scare stories - it's incredibly unlikely to be a large shark and the fin shape is unlike any shark I can find...

Does anyone know what the vis has been like recently? Have the day off tomorrow. Also did people hear about the tit who shot himself at cable bay?

evening. not been down, but abersoch webcam looks a bit murky and blowing a hooley right now.....
Hadnt heard of the selfie..... Got a link? :)
Or did I miss the joke? felt a bit of a prick etc.....
