North Wales, The Llyn & Anglesey 2014

Hi guys, new to the forum so not sure if this will appear where it should!

I spend a lot of time on Anglesey either kite surfing or spinning for Bass and never realised people were spearfishing in the area. I bought a speargun in Spain about 12 yrs ago (was a decent Cressi at the time) only used it a couple of times but will probably need to check its ok to use. I already have fins, mask, wetsuit and weight belt etc so I'm pretty excited to get in the water and go hunting. Just missing one thing... A buddy!

If anyone else needs to buddy up or doesn't mind me tagging along from time to time please get in touch. I'm there this weekend for starters.

Anybody been in the last couple of days? I'm thinking of an evening dive on weds or even a night dive driving back late or staying over and coming back in the morning - anybody interested?

Have I missed something? Has everybody given up diving north Wales? Very quiet on here... Heading to the llyn tomorrow

You haven't heard about the new bylaw? Everyone's keeping a VERY low profile...

Make sure the wardens don't catch you - they're on most on the main beaches - yellow polo shirt with WARDEN in big letters on the back. Gwynedd Council have instructed them to confiscate all spearo gear that is brought onto any public beach. They're saying it's to do with the new conservation zones that are being set up but I think it's more public safety after that guy got speared last month.

Looks amazing! Anybody around for a dive 10am tomorrow? Or any spot recommendations? Can PM

The vis is a good 15m, maybe more and the water is around 27 degrees, then again, I am in Crete. No idea what Wales is like, matey. Sorry.

DOH I knew it but posted anyway.... What a 'silly billy'
Try Dylan anyway!

Well as I suspected another blank; that makes two this year. I went to foxy and I's special place having seen some good fish there this time last year. Unfortunately vis was was milky and bloomy so only 3m or so. Did have a nice seal encounter during one of my dives which was fun. No silvers seen. When I got back to the car park I was approached by a "warden" who served a notice on me for spearfishing in a gwnned protected area. After much arguing and arrival of the police they confiscated all of my gear including my car (as apparently that was transporting illegal spearfishing equipment) and dropped me off at Caernarfon train station to make my way home. I guess that's my spearing for the year - Broseidon you did try to warn me, should have listened.

Righto Chaps,
I'm hoping the lack of fish you guys are talking about improves as I am heading back to the UK from Sunny??? Oz (its flipping freezing here at the moment) for my brothers (DafyddRees) stag do at the start of August. I'm desperate to find some nice Welsh silvers to eat and to dive in the relative comfort of not sh*tting myself every time I dive knowing that a shark is just around the next corner!

To be honest Twinky, last time you dived in North Wales, you got bitten by a seal and ended up hiding on a rock feeling sorry for yourself!

Ha you are right Bro so you can imagine what I am like with lots of big sharks hanging around!!!
