well i had tons of fun it was real great meeting the new guys and girls. chris THANK YOU so much for turning my spetton ami2 into a hammer head LOL (if anyone needs help with a gun talk to chris ILdiver) my kids had lots of fun and so did my wife as she dont to many other wifes around here so she had a blast but hope to see you all in the water soon

I know that my kids had a blast- they sure were tired when we left and slept the whole way home.:inlove

My wife seemed to enjoy herself as well. She's somewhat wary of scuba divers, having grown up in a diveshop she finds most of them to be somewhat odd, and was happy that freedivers seem to be much more normal than my old tech-diving buddies!rofl

Brian

ALSO............ If you are interested in a DVD of all the videos in HD (or at least higher quality) send me a PM with your address and I'll ship one to you or I am going to try to have them with me, so if you see me....ask. I am hoping to get the DVD done soon - this week or next.

Dusten. Awesome beard dude. That thing is gnarly. Dang my native american genes that prohibit the growth of proper facial hair... :vangry

well the problem with it is it dont take me very long to grow it that way maybe a week or two

I just got off the phone with that State Park Official (she called me). She wanted to let us know that she has been doing some investigation into the laws of spearguns and them having to be cased. She checked with several HEAD Wardens and they all agreed that they are not Firearms or Weapons therefore do not have to be cased. Not even in a State Park. But, She suggested we do so if we are ever in a state park again. Just so we don't get harassed by any other wardens. She thought it was interesting how we do our "fishing" and was nice about it on the phone.

Spearguns don't have to be Cased - but cover them or case them if in a park - to avoid conflict.

I told her they weren't firearms. I saw her point though. She was more worried about Bowfishers it sounded like??

I remember the first time that happened to me. We had just gotten out of a lake, they had just asked us for our licenses, I left mine at home, there was a huge to do about my name actually being Garth, and not Forrest, and which one of my 3 middle initials were used on the license, FINALLY they find it, confirm that I have one, and that I gave 1.00 to lake research, and then just as they are about to pull away...
"How does that thing shoot?" -warden

"Its got these big rubber bands." - Me

"Okay... just making sure it wasn't a firearm that needed to be cased." -warden

And then they drove off. Made me hold my breath for a moment though..

hmmm... after reading THAT tidbit, thought I'd look into it a bit... so read some of this little Wisconsin Firearm Document.
Carrying Firearms in Public. Wisconsin law does not specifically prohibit the open carrying of loaded or unloaded firearms in public, but a person doing so may risk being arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, on the grounds that the display threatens the public peace or safety.
even displaying our spears could, if the warden decides to make us have a bad day, be considered to "threaten the public peace or safety".

but it was nice that she followed up with a phone call...

Interestingly however, from this document anyway, you don't need it cased unless you are transporting it in a vehicle... so just setting it on a picnic bench while eating lunch would not qualify IMHO... but I'm no lawyer.
Transporting Firearms in Motor Vehicles, Boats, or Aircraft. In general, no one may place, possess, or transport a firearm in a motor vehicle, motorboat, or aircraft unless the firearm is unloaded and in a carrying case. Loading or discharging a firearm in or from a vehicle is also prohibited [ss. 167.31 (2) (a) and (b), and (3) (a)].

of course the document is a brief from 2000 and probably has a more up-to-date cousin somewhere out there...
interestingly - and bear this in mind, people! - it states clearly that
Theft of a Firearm
is
Illegal Use of Firearm
... wow... who would of thought?!

But they are not firearms.

fire·arm (frärm)
n.
A weapon, especially a pistol or rifle, capable of firing a projectile and using an explosive charge as a propellant.

as far as a threat to the public- Trust me - i can use ANYTHING to threaten the public, tennis racket, baseball bat, sword - the list goes on and on...........

Dotey- just noticed your new avatar- if that thing chokes you to death- don't come crying to me :D

Also: I've got the videos put on a DVD in their highest Quality- If you want 1 or 2 let me know- I can ship them to you or if you think you'll meet up with us sometime and can wait- I'll have them with me. I also put the Ending Credits Video (video from the cookout) on my Facebook account. the song for the 'Credits' was suggested by ILDiver. :)

using an explosive charge as a propellant
Thanks Chris! I was looking for that... that's the reason I opened the doc. in the first place - to find a def. of a firearm.

my point was that the doc. seemed to suggest that they can arrest you for "disturbing the peace" whether or not it's in fact a firearm or just a painted piece of wood looking like a firearm, or a live chicken, or...

I was out biking around town a couple weeks ago and came across this group of people in the park dressed up in Jedi/midevil clothing and practicing their sword fighting techniques. rofl

I don't know how threatening it was, but I sure laughed my butt off as I biked on past.roflroflrofl
