Nice catch! We were in nearby and it was fairly slow going. Seen 3 very large mullet and a very large wreck! Was fun exploring it.
Milky 4-5m. Vis.

Louis Shied. Always think it will throw up more fish than it does, manageable dive on a low tide with some massive wrasse. Dived once at night on my own but pooped myself, bit like last week lee with the mud. Need to discuss that mate at somepoint, as I was stranded upto my knees kept thinking to myself is spearo watching taking the pi*s!!
Anyway will text you in case but teignmouth still no go, getting better. Running t/mouth - dawlish warren tomorrow eve. Will give better update then mate.

Lee

Good catch there Scrumpy , your fortunate being able to get in during the week , as it seems the weekends are dreadful of late , but I have the next 2 weeks off and have to get back in to it ,not been in much this year at all !!! you are just in time for the June FOM. Terry...

Terry
Some good local dives to be had, just need viz to improve. Could you do early evening if you don't fancy night dives. I just try to catch viz when I can, sometimes doesn't leave much time for sleep. It was such a long winter.
Speak soon

Lee

Sorry jim didn't mention your lobster mate. Nothing to do with the photo honest mate!!!!!!

Great catch Lee, sounds like a fantastic days diving you had.

Jim had already taunted me with the photos before you put them up.

Hopefully I'll have something to show back to him over the next couple of weeks as the conditions are picking up and I've got two weeks off.

If I can work out how to apportion rep, I'll hand some over!

Ed.

Thanks chap. Must try to meet up with jim poss dorset way. Bloom should be cleared by now. Jim on about an excursion after his stint on nights. Also spearo lee seems happy to give us a masterclass!!!

Had a little trip to your neck of the woods in search if viz and also bagged myself a nice sole 2lb 10oz;-)

Nice sole and thanks for the pics - I cut 4 fillets using Hughs Fish Book as reference and have to say did a pretty good job, no wastage at all. Hadn't thought of 2 large fillets - one for the future.

Jim and I headed for the south hams yesterday dived a couple of spots. First found the thornback ray weighing in at 11lb 2oz, about 8m depth not great viz but better than of late. Jim took his pollock just under 3lb mark. Moved on to our next spot with quite a few spearos in the water, don't think the guys are on here but not much seen other than the odd small bass and usual spiders. We swam out to some outer reefs, where jim saw but couldn't get in range nice 5lb bass. I took a mullet out of a small shoal, some fantastic viz with some excellent deep gullies screaming bass but where were they? I didn't see a bass all day. Time to head in crusing over the sand was this John Dory 1lb 4oz. Picked up a few spiders for a mate, who expected bigger so he took two and I returned the other two last night off of ness beach.

Good catch there Lee - hats off.

Was out last night at Thurlestone again - borderline legal bass seen but none taken.

Great stuff Lee,

I'll be down in the south hams the week after next so I'll get in touch.

I'm off to scotland this week to sample their visibility.

Ed.

Any one driving past meadfoot/torre abbey can I have viz report please. Checked on Friday am but more hopes nose way, that looked ok. Hoping to go late Sunday night and to stay local, don't really want to drive thurlestone way if I can help it.
Friday eve teignmouth to dawlish warren was brown and very smelly.

I was there with my children kayaking on Thursday evening. By the shore it was thick and brown. I jumped off the kayak by Shag Rock for a ten minute dip. Vis was about 2 metres at the bottom. I was looking for a crab for the BBQ and didn't have my gun with me - came face to face with a cuttle in the kelp and could only look at it :head

Early this morning Nick (Winky) and I tried an East Devon spot and found vis of 0.2 - 0.5m. We tried a bit of crab hunting as I know where the spiders hang out there but after an hour and a bit of bumping into the bottom and only finding small females we called it a day.

We had some great viz last night. At least 5-6m in the Sound, and up to 8m on the Cornish side. Plymouth is clearing really well. We're going to try and find some Turbot tonight (hopefully) at a place called "Turbot Corner". How can we lose?

Been thurlstone most of the day, bit of wind cutting across causing bit of surface chop but hasn't affect the vis. Was in around 8-10m and could see the bottom, lot of fish about.

Lee, meadfoot been getting better over last few days, earlier it was like a mill pond but vis still only around 2-3m I reckon

I went in at a South Devon mark today...in search of my first speared bass!

Unfortunately, no bass spotted at all, but the visibility was stunning...probably 8m+, and there was a lot of life about, including great big wrasse, spider crabs and sand eel a plenty (with some monster lance amongst them too). All in all a brilliant few hours in the water, despite not a shot being fired!

I've attempted to attach a couple of the many photos we took below...

Well, we found some Turbot. Lots of them in fact, but they were all 4" long. Maybe later in the year the bigger ones will come in. Small plaice, flounder and sole too, so we're going to make another trip back there.
We got out of the water at 00:30 with one 4lb lobster, a bass, spider crab and a big 3 bearded rockling (which taste superb).

Dropped in last night - south hams just on midnight, big swell and uncomfortable diving really. Took a crack to my left knee and thrown all over the place as dived over inner reef.
Anyway 3 bass taken but nothing of great size, nothing else seen but viz only 3m max and very patchy. Looking forward to the bay clearing, looking better.

Had a quick look at Torbay this evening and it is clearing well 2-3 metres and very calm .I dived at Start Point, Sunday right in front of the lighthouse, took advantage of slack water ( rare here !! ) at high tide, great vis , deepish dives , very little seen and all missed ( was only here for less than an hour ) a slightly spooky place, feels like I should not be there because of usual tidal currents , potentially a good spot, may try at low tide on another calm day .Terry..

Glad to hear Torbay is clearing up at last.

Plymouth dive tonight, bit milky but still a good 3-4 meters vis. A few bass seen, came away with this 2 and a 1/2 lb one.
