I have resorted to portland pose backed up with fish with fin or tape measure shot to appease my 'haters' fan club

Had someone staying with us at work the other night, height 7ft 3ins.
Might try to pass that one off, instead of my 5' 6.

Last nights catch no monsters but couple of decent fish seen but disappeared into the gloom. 4 hrs with Viz 2-3 m but murky and a lot of weed.

Nice Haul Lee, went in Tue morning couple nice mullet and a flattie. Vis was 3-4 murky on the reef.

I swam out to a deep reef this evening, viz was pretty good further out, probably around 4-5m. I took three bass within 30 minutes, and there were plenty more milling around whilst I was reloading.

Ask foxfish where you can spear 'sea'bass.....lol

or a monkfish even? or is that an anglerfish.....or even a real monk with a robe....angelshark!

I just feel that as hunters we should at the very least be able to identify our prey & know the correct names?
I do have plenty of id books, I can remember looking at the Observers book of British sea fish, while under the covers using a torch when I should of been asleep, probably aged 5-6.
I still use books on occasions if I come across some unusual rock pool creature but generally I am pretty clued up with the majority of local sea fish.

Donkey= bass over 7lb
dustbin lid = plaice or turbot over 5lb
mully= mullet
silver tourist = no go.
snake= large conger
scoolie= 2-3lb bass
bug = lobster
golden bar= gilthead bream
all clued up me
