I went for a suit with nylon on the outside as it gives the suit strength and protects against tears when you in and over reefs. it even came with a repair kit which I had to use after ripping a small hole in the leg. worked a treat.

I was in last night and Dave (North1) has been in tonight and the water at Budders is upto 8m+ from the first set of rocks out. You need to clear the river water which is brown and carrying loads of rubbish currently. We have had 3 fish for a weight of over 11lb in the last 24hrs from the reef so if the weather holds north give it another go mate. It will be worth it!!:t
In at Budleigh last night and the viz was great. Had a Mullet of around 4lb. No bass about though.
On the subject of wetsuits I have just bought a Mares 3.5 open cell. It is great for short shallow dives. I use a Cressi Competition 5 for colder water. The cressi has an easy glide lining that allows easy dressing when dry. The cressi is about 4 years old and is as strong as they come.
I am trying to locate a Mares Phantom v 75 speargun but there aren't many places doing it. Dive Inn does it but they want the best part of £30 for postage. Does anyone know if there is a UK supplier?

Nice going lads! Being new to the spear I was taking it easy and not straying too far out on my own. Maybe we could buddy up sometime and you could give me a Budleigh masterclass!!! Cheers m8.
Out around meadfoot yesterday on the lowtide Bumped into DAVE L and his mate Scott who were out working the inshore reef, Scott had a nice mullet on his stringer which was a promising site.
Dived Shag rock for bit without the gun and had a poke about. an hour in the dive the mullet started to come in. Loaded my Almostafish sl100 ( nice one Bryn) and pretty much blew half the head off the mullet. those 5 pronge prangers ( I think thats what its called) make a right mess!!!!!!
Total catch of 1 mullet and 1 John Dory which will go down nicely in a thai curry tonight.

Half a head blown off - minor injury for a mullet! Probably still able to swim halfway to France
3lb mullet is all I seem to be bagging around the rock at the moment but i'll keep my eyes open for the bigger boys .

Started spearfishing earlier this year when the weather was slightly warmer, and have now started to feel the cold alot quicker, so have decided to purchase a new wettie but would I get away with 5mm through the winter or should I go for a 7mm? and does the 7mm restrict movement very much?

The amount of neoprene you need depends very much on how much bioprene you have. I have virtually no fat (6'2" and 11 stone) and my 5mm starts to get quite chilly by November whereas some other forum members who have a little more natural insulation seem to be able to go right through the winter with 5mm. I haven't tried a 7mm but seeing as eating lots of pies has failed I think I might have to.
as said before - it depends on how resilient you are naturally (bioprene aside ). A 1mm neoprene vest (elios or Picasso do them) with a 5mm spearo suit works fine for lots of people. I personally use both a 7mm top with the vest aswell with 5mm bottoms for the winter. Then vary the 5mm suit or 5mm suit plus 1mm vest as per conditions. I aint that resilient. James

I tried spearing that big ghost Koi in my pond this morning shiny, but I missed burst the liner and emptied the pond. goldfish for dinner then.

Theres some numnut traweler stirring up the viz in Brixham at the moment. Got in after work today and had less then 2 meters and very cloudy,,, still managed a nice bass
