Tong is much better. His backside healed, did a couple of dives, and then got a double ear infection! :crutch
We're going back to the scene of the crime this afternoon, but on Scuba this time. Tong wants to be as far from the surface as possible.rofl

Exe spearfishing club welcomes you to a Club dive at meadfoot beach on the 30th Sunday. Anyone is welcome to join in you dont need to be a member, you will be made welcome.
Meet for 9am at meadfoot at the middle of seafront where the free parking is.
Start at 10am
Lets hope for some weather after all this southerly wind!!

Hi All,
Belated catch report from yesterday.
5am alarm was most unwelcome but struggled out to the beach and all was fine, headed home to load the truck with spear and boat gear. After expecting there to be five of us, we finally set off as just two due to many crossed wires and my missing phone.
Got to the first mark and dropped over into screaming tide. Crazywind spotted a decent bass first drop but nothing doing after that. Gave it half an hour then moved out the flow slightly. Much better fishing!
Olivier's banker spot for mullet turned up the goods, three for him two for me. Some bass seen but nothing we were desparate to take, all schoolies.
Final move down onto an underwater spire rising to ten foot under the surface from thirty five. No bass seen but some monster wrasse taken for soup. Mangad to shoot a large wrasse which then proceeded to take spear and line into a forboding cave and snag up! Three dives later and i'd got the spear out and recovered the fish. Finning for the surface and disaster (Spot the difference picture attached).
Post more later, late for dinner OOOPPPSS!!!

thats a rotten bit of luck chris surely omer will replace the fin for free you aint had them long get on the case !!!! sorry didnt come was pretty well hungover lol

You got of lightly, at least your foot pocket is still intact. I just had an ice blade snap in a very similar manner and it took the clip section of one side of the foot pocket with it. When it snapped i was on a night dive and never found the lower half. This was about 2 weeks ago, only a week after replacing the other blade when it snapped across the screws!!!!:vangry
After the first snap (across the screws) i contacted omer by email with photo's and eventually got a reply saying i should return it to the shop i bought it from. Unfortunately that shop is in Portugal. Its an official omer dealer in Lagos and the guy from omer knew the shop. I have the warranty card (unfortunately not dealer stamped) but the receipt is long gone. I got them in June 07 but they have a 3 year warranty. I had my good lady's dad take the fin, snapped blade, warranty card and copy of the email from omer in when he went over a few weeks ago and the guy in the shop said he couldn't do anything about it and that it would have to go to the main dealer in Lisbon:vangry
The owner of the shop is ex Portuguese spearo team and seemed to be a top bloke until this.:rcard. Disappointed.
I think i'm going to email omer again, after all its not like its another company's product. Maybe they'll be a bit more sympathetic this time and just send me a new pair..................
I'll also be heading over on the 8th September so i'll go in myself and tell him how let down i feel. Jeez, i've spent enough money in there!

I seen loads of snapped omer ice fins on this forum. The only omer equipment i would use is their guns. Seen Omer suits fall apart at the joints in a few months brand new.

Back from dinner and it sounds like i'm in better luck than others.
I rang Anthony at Venture Sports Paignton this afternoon and he was amazed that the fin had let me down like that as I had only got them from him in April!!! The man was an absolute legend, he said not to worry and bring them down and so I did.
The good lady and I arrived at the shop and he looked at the fin, stripped out the old, unwrapped a new blade, heated the footpocket and fitted in there and then whilst I nipped around the shop picking up replacement bits I needed. Fixed the fin no problems at all, gave me at least £10 discount on gloves and bits etc to boot and finished off with some amusing stories about his kids, great!!!
Much appreciated Anthony, proper customer service and no quibble replacement, top man.

Glad to hear you got the problem sorted. I too went into Venture sports to get some bits and pieces and a very good price it was too.
I don't think you will be getting your fins wet for some time though. Wind, Wind and more wind. Oh for the British bank holiday.

This weekend is looking alright for meadfoot, winds turn west tomorrow evening and stay put enough for it to clear up.
Took my new toy out today, 3.5 meters hondwave with a 15hp 4stroke. Very dirty along teinmouth, but cleaned up as i got to babbacome, Meadfoot is cleaning up aswell. Took a mullet and a 2.3lb lobster. No bass seen. All went well apart from ripping the knee of my smooth skin bottoms getting into boat!!! argh!! get the glue out again, The bottoms are gonna be made of glue soon.
We mite move the club dive from sunday, to saturday, Sunday is looking risky, while saturday much better. Hope this doesnt put anyone out atall! Will post later tonight.

Thinking that I need a new suit soon. Wondered briefly about smoothskin but stories like this are a definite off put. I would certainly have to reconsider my long established practice of always going commando under wetsuits
What did u do with ur old rib matt? Spiderman im with u on that one too easy to tear

If anyone has seen meadfoot, they will know that this weekends club dive is off!!
Due to strong west winds Meadfoot has been blown out sorry for the late notice but this weather has been all over the place.
we will move it to a later date.
