I'm sure the frosty appearance is just an illusion. Perhaps a change of avatar would help. If we knew what robbo really looked like...

Is it just me, or is the water temperature dropping rapidly? I don't carry a thermometer, so I've got no method of judging the temp other than how I feel - and I seem to be getting a lot colder a lot quicker recently (although, admittedly, I am spending a lot more time at depth at the moment). Could soon be time for the 7mm top if this keeps up.
Didn't spend much time in the water yesterday (been overdoing it lately: got too cold, too quick, and heart not really in it) - only managed one half decent pollack.
Day off today, for boozing!
My D3 said it was 14 degrees the other day which I think is a bit low for the time of year.
That was until it decided to have a funny turn. I was on the bottom in about 3m of water when it started to emit a continual beep and the screen froze with only the dive time displayed. No amount of button pushing would make it do otherwise so I spent another hour or so in the water with a continually beeping watch (maybe this is why the fish were avoiding me). When I got out it was still beeping and frozen but when I came to wash out my kit later in the evening it had returned to normal although the time had reset itself. I connected it to my computer to see if the dive records were intact and it recorded the dive when it went wrong as normal until the time it began beeping and then nearly a minute at 33.8m depth!

thanks for the info re: rubbers (ooh err). Got some from apnea, went out this afternoon, 3 shots, 3 bass. Happy with that; seems that the old rubbers just werent imparting enough velocity.

had a dive off my boat this morning. I was up at 4am and on the first reef by 7am, plenty of schoolies to be found and shoals of mullet zooming thru the stringweed but I left them and had my nose close to the sand as its flatties and thornbacks I was after.
Found a nice 1lb5oz flounder sitting on the edge of a sand patch and popped him on the stringer:friday moved over to a few shallow sand gullies where I found about 10 undersize flatties sitting on top of the sand GREAT SITE !!!!!! wish I had taken the camera :head
after about 2 hours I had a neck ache so decided to rest over a reef.. starring down to the rocks below I chuckled to myself as I spotted a rock that looked just like a lobster tail..........hang on that is a lobster tail !!!!! in plain view wondering around the reef was the biggest lobster ive ever seen.
Unloaded the gun and popped the shaft out so the gun would float, I slowly drifted past the lobster, dived behind him, grabbed his head and tail and held on for dear life. to say he didnt come quietly would be an understatmentroflrofl the old boy still had a lot life in him.
It took me half an hour to swim him back to the boat and in the bag
He weighed 10lb 2 oz and is my personel Best and a monster of a lobbie
STOKED !!!!!!

Had a a couple of dives on Friday and Saturday at Sandybay. Had a few mullet and bass but nothing big. Good to see the weather is on the up. Bumped into another spearo waiting to go in on the low tide. Sorry I forgot your name. Nice to have a chat though.

Gutshot he tasted no different to any other lobster Ive had mate, I polished off the big claw and half the tail for tea and it tasted great. the rest of it is going in tomorrows dinner and my mate has already claimed the other claw.
